remain underexplored. This study aims to profile transcriptomic changes in periarticular tissues from patients undergoing shoulder replacement for OA. By correlating these profiles with QuickDASH scores—a validated measure of worsening shoulder function—this research seeks to understand the gene expression changes associated with clinical decline. Capsular tissue biopsies from shoulder OA patients were compared with those from a control group undergoing shoulder stabilization for recurrent instability. This investigation forms part of a larger transcriptomic analysis of painful shoulder conditions which will address the current gap in knowledge regarding the molecular and genetic underpinnings of shoulder OA, rotator cuff tears and cuff-tear arthropathy. Overall design: Tissue samples were collected from OA patients with a range of QuickDASH scores and underwent transcriptome profiling to understand the gene associations with shoulder joint symptoms and disability. Bone, muscle, capsule, fat and synovium are included from n=6 patients.</long_description><repository>ENA</repository><description_synonyms>Materials, Arthritides, Process, Processes, articulatio humeri, Case Referent Studies, Case-Compeer Studies, Gene, Case-Comparison Study, Case-Base Studies, Cistrons, Case-Comparison Studies, Case-Referent Studies, Biological Processes, Biological Phenomenon, Osteoarthrosis Deformans, Case-Referrent, osteoarthrosis and allied disorder, Biological, Osteoarthritides, Case Referrent Studies, Phenomena, Studies, Genetic Materials, Nested Case-Control, Biological Process, Phenomenon, Osteoarthrosis, Genetic Material, Osteoarthroses, Osteoarthritis, degenerative arthritis, Matched Case Control Studies, Matched Case-Control Study, Nested Case-Control Studies, Biologic Phenomena, Case-Referent Study, Case-Referrent Studies, Genetic, Nested, Case-Referent, Arthritis, Case-Control Studies, Degenerative Arthritides, osteoarthrosis, Matched, Case Base Studies, Case-Base, Case-Referrent Study, Case Control, Case Control Studies, Case-Control Study, hypertrophic arthritis, Matched Case-Control, Nested Case-Control Study, Case-Comparison, Case-Compeer, shoulder region, Study, degenerative joint disease, Degenerative polyarthritis, Case-Control, Material, Degenerative, Case Comparison Studies, Degenerative joint disease, Case Control Study, Arthrosis, Hypertrophic arthritis, Cistron, Arthroses, Matched Case-Control Studies, Shoulders, Degenerative Joint Disease, Degenerative Arthritis, Nested Case Control Studies, Biologic, degenerative, Case-Referrent.</description_synonyms><name_synonyms>Materials, Arthritides, Process, Processes, articulatio humeri, Case Referent Studies, Case-Compeer Studies, Gene, Case-Comparison Study, Case-Base Studies, Cistrons, Case-Comparison Studies, Case-Referent Studies, Biological Processes, Biological Phenomenon, Osteoarthrosis Deformans, Case-Referrent, osteoarthrosis and allied disorder, Biological, Osteoarthritides, Case Referrent Studies, Phenomena, Studies, Genetic Materials, Nested Case-Control, Biological Process, Phenomenon, Osteoarthrosis, Genetic Material, Osteoarthroses, Osteoarthritis, degenerative arthritis, Matched Case Control Studies, Matched Case-Control Study, Nested Case-Control Studies, Biologic Phenomena, Case-Referent Study, Case-Referrent Studies, Genetic, Nested, Case-Referent, Arthritis, Case-Control Studies, Degenerative Arthritides, osteoarthrosis, Matched, Case Base Studies, Case-Base, Case-Referrent Study, Case Control, Case Control Studies, Case-Control Study, hypertrophic arthritis, Matched Case-Control, Nested Case-Control Study, Case-Comparison, Case-Compeer, shoulder region, Study, degenerative joint disease, Degenerative polyarthritis, Case-Control, Material, Degenerative, Case Comparison Studies, Degenerative joint disease, Case Control Study, Arthrosis, Hypertrophic arthritis, Cistron, Arthroses, Matched Case-Control Studies, Shoulders, Degenerative Joint Disease, Degenerative Arthritis, Nested Case Control Studies, Biologic, degenerative, Case-Referrent.</name_synonyms></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>‘QuickDASH’ to find Unique Genes and Biological Processes Associated with Shoulder Osteoarthritis: a prospective case-control study</name><description>‘QuickDASH’ to find Unique Genes and Biological Processes Associated with Shoulder Osteoarthritis: a prospective case-control study</description><dates><last_updated>2025-09-24</last_updated><first_public>2024-12-06</first_public></dates><accession>PRJNA1183972</accession><cross_references><GEO>GSE281476</GEO><taxon>9606</taxon><PubMed>39702481</PubMed></cross_references></HashMap>
