Some of these effects are unrelated to its antiprotease activity. Here, we use genome-wide expression microarrays to show that cystatin D regulates gene expression (including that of genes encoding transcription factors such as RUNX1, RUNX2, or MEF2C) in HCT116 cells. Overall design: HCT116 colon adenocarcinoma cell lines stably expressing cystatin D (HCT116-CST5 clone 9 and clone 20), mock-transfected (HCT116-Mock) and un-transfected (HCT116-Untransfected) were generated as described (Álvarez-Díaz et al., 2009, PUBMED:19662683) and genome-wide expression microarrays were obtained to achieve the gene expression profile induced by CST5."],"repository":["ENA"],"description_synonyms":["Cystatin, Gene., Cystatin Superfamily, human being, Cystatins, Man (Taxonomy), Gene Expressions, Type 2 Cystatins, Modern, Type I Cystatins, Type 3 Cystatins, cysteine protease inhibitor activity, Type III, Gene, Type II Cystatins, nucleus of neuraxis, Type 2, Type 3, Stefins, cystatin, Expressions, human, Type 1, Human, Cystatin Related Proteins, Homo sapiens, bacterial transcription, Modern Man, horsetail nucleus, Cystatin-Related Proteins, cell nucleus, Stefin, Expression, Type 1 Cystatins, Type III Cystatins, Type I, Type II, transcription from bacterial-type RNA polymerase promoter, Man, thiol protease inhibitor"],"name_synonyms":["Human, Modern., human being, Man (Taxonomy), Homo sapiens, man, Man, human, Modern Man"],"additional_accession":[]},"is_claimable":false,"name":"Homo sapiens","description":"Human cystatin D (CST5) locates in the nucleus at sites of active transcription and regulates gene expression","dates":{"last_updated":"2025-09-24","first_public":"2015-11-06"},"accession":"PRJNA196627","cross_references":{"GEO":["GSE45904"],"taxon":["9606"],"PubMed":["26364852"]}}
