Here using global gene expression analysis by RNA-Seq of cultured liver cells, which are made insulin resistant using chronic insulin treatment and high glucose, we could detail liver endogenous pathways that can drive NAFLD pathogenesis in the absence or involvement of adipose tissue mediators.
