Critical oocyte-expressed genes driving ovarian function have been identified, buta role for post-translational modifications, such as SUMOylation of these key factors is not well understood. Oocyte-specific genetic ablation of the sole E2 SUMOylation enzyme, UBC9, cause female sterility. Preantral and antral stage ovarian follicles are depleted by sexual maturity, and loss of the ovarian reserve in early adulthood causes premature ovarian failure, a condition associated with infertility in women. Gene expression changes indicate atered function of multiple POI candidate genes, including the transcription factors, NOBOX and SOHLH1. Together, these studies show that SUMOylation is required in the mammalian oocyte for regulating key genetic determinants of oocyte growth and differentiation. Overall design: Ovarian mRNA profiles of 14-day old control (Ubc9flox/flox) and Ubc9flox/flox Gdf9iCre+ mice were generated by RNA sequencing, in triplicate pools, using an Illumina HiSeq 2500 system.</long_description><repository>ENA</repository><description_synonyms>DUbc9, 3.4.22.-, young adult, Laboratory, Mus domesticus, Gene, Ovocytes, mini-ICE, CASP-14, Ubce2i, Ovocyte, House Mouse, ubiquitin conjugating enzyme 9, gonada of female organism genitalia, gonad of genitalia of female organism, Lwr, dip4, House, Mus musculus domesticus, Ubc 9, 5830467E05Rik, juvenile, Mice, genitalia of female organism gonada, gonada of female organism reproductive system, UBIQUITIN-PROTEIN LIGASE, Gene Expressions, DmelCG3018, Swiss, genitalia of female organism gonad, ovum-producing ovary, female organism reproductive system gonad, Swiss Mice, Ubc-9, C358B7.1, Expressions, semi, l(2)01519, juvenile stage, reproductive system of female organism gonada, reproductive system of female organism gonad, ovary - animal, ovary, Expression, P18, female organism genitalia gonad, female reproductive system gonada, Oocyte, UBC9, gonad of female reproductive system, Ubc9, gonada of reproductive system of female organism, gonad of female organism reproductive system, gonada of female reproductive system, Ubce9, mouse, UBCE9, FBgn0010602, F830028O17Rik, Mus, Ovaries, dUbc9, Mini-ICE, dUBC9, hbl, ubc9, female reproductive system gonad, Mus musculus., l(2)02858, child, l(2)05487, Mus musculus, l(2)05486, ovaries, female organism reproductive system gonada, animal ovary, Caspase-14 subunit p10, gonada of genitalia of female organism, i56, T13J8.70, mice, female gonad, Swiss Mouse, ovarium, gonad of reproductive system of female organism, oogonium, gonad of female organism genitalia, House Mice, Caspase-14 subunit p19, MICE, i105, Laboratory Mice, domesticus, female organism genitalia gonada, Dmubc9, ubce9, Mouse, Laboratory Mouse, T13J8_70, CG3018, DmUbc9</description_synonyms><name_synonyms>DUbc9, 3.4.22.-, young adult, Laboratory, Mus domesticus, Gene, Ovocytes, mini-ICE, CASP-14, Ubce2i, Ovocyte, House Mouse, ubiquitin conjugating enzyme 9, gonada of female organism genitalia, gonad of genitalia of female organism, Lwr, dip4, House, Mus musculus domesticus, Ubc 9, 5830467E05Rik, juvenile, Mice, genitalia of female organism gonada, gonada of female organism reproductive system, UBIQUITIN-PROTEIN LIGASE, Gene Expressions, DmelCG3018, Swiss, genitalia of female organism gonad, ovum-producing ovary, female organism reproductive system gonad, Swiss Mice, Ubc-9, C358B7.1, Expressions, semi, l(2)01519, juvenile stage, reproductive system of female organism gonada, reproductive system of female organism gonad, ovary - animal, ovary, Expression, P18, female organism genitalia gonad, female reproductive system gonada, Oocyte, UBC9, gonad of female reproductive system, Ubc9, gonada of reproductive system of female organism, gonad of female organism reproductive system, gonada of female reproductive system, Ubce9, mouse, UBCE9, FBgn0010602, F830028O17Rik, Mus, Ovaries, dUbc9, Mini-ICE, dUBC9, hbl, ubc9, female reproductive system gonad, Mus musculus., l(2)02858, child, l(2)05487, Mus musculus, l(2)05486, ovaries, female organism reproductive system gonada, animal ovary, Caspase-14 subunit p10, gonada of genitalia of female organism, i56, T13J8.70, mice, female gonad, Swiss Mouse, ovarium, gonad of reproductive system of female organism, oogonium, gonad of female organism genitalia, House Mice, Caspase-14 subunit p19, MICE, i105, Laboratory Mice, domesticus, female organism genitalia gonada, Dmubc9, ubce9, Mouse, Laboratory Mouse, T13J8_70, CG3018, DmUbc9</name_synonyms></additional><is_claimable>false</is_claimable><name>Gene expression changes in ovaries of oocyte-specific conditional knockout of Ubc9 in juvenile mice</name><description>Gene expression changes in ovaries of oocyte-specific conditional knockout of Ubc9 in juvenile mice</description><dates><last_updated>2025-09-24</last_updated><first_public>2019-11-19</first_public></dates><accession>PRJNA550147</accession><cross_references><GEO>GSE133179</GEO><taxon>10090</taxon></cross_references></HashMap>
