The characteristics of these diseases as 1:5000-10000 overall prevalence, genetic heterogeneity (genetic origin is dual, mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and nuclear DNA (nDNA)), the wide clinical variability, makes diagnosis very laborious and complex.
