Project description:Transcriptomic profiling using Drosophila heads reveals early gene expression responses to transient paraquat exposure. We performed RNAseq profiling of heads from the wild type (WT) Drosophila strain, Canton S (males only), that were fed either 2.5% sucrose (control) or 5 mM PQ in 2.5% sucrose for 12 h.
Project description:The first aim was to identify genes whose transcription is induced by rapamycin feeding in Drosophila larvae. Secondly, the goal was to find out which contribution the transcription factor REPTOR (=CG13624) has to the observed changes in expression. We thus compared gene epxression between rapamycin fed and control fed larvae in wild type larvae and in REPTOR KO larvae.
Project description:The drug phenobarbital induces cytochrome P450 monooxygenase (P450) gene expression in many animals, but no changes in P450 expression, or expression of any detoxification genes, were observed in worker honey bees fed on phenobarbital-candy relative to bees fed plain candy. Keywords: Expression profiling by array
Project description:Phosphatidylcholine transfer protein (PC-TP, a.k.a StarD2) is abundantly expressed in liver and is regulated by PPARα. When fed the synthetic PPARα ligand fenofibrate, Pctp-/- mice exhibited altered lipid and glucose homeostasis. Microarray profiling of liver from fenofibrate fed wild type and Pctp-/- mice revealed differential expression of a broad array of metabolic genes, as well as their regulatory transcription factors. Because its expression controlled the transcriptional activities of both PPARα and HNF4α in cell culture, the broader impact of PC-TP on nutrient metabolism is most likely secondary to its role in fatty acid metabolism.
Project description:The study analyses the effect of multiple drugs on transcriptomic profile of Drosophila melanogaster. At the end of treatment, the head tissues were collected and homogenized in trizol for RNA extraction. The transcriptomic profiling was done using Affymetrix Drosophila Genome 2.0 array.
