Project description:<p>We used massively parallel, paired-end sequencing of expressed transcripts (RNA-seq) to detect novel gene fusions in short-term cultures of glioma stem-like cells freshly isolated from nine patients carrying primary glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). The culture of primary GBM tumors under serum-free conditions selects cells that retain phenotypes and genotypes closely mirroring primary tumor profiles as compared to serum-cultured glioma cell lines that have largely lost their developmental identities.</p>

Project description:In recent years, due to the influence of climate change and rising sea temperature, the incidence of Vibrio alginolyticus infections is increasing, and becoming the second most common Vibrio species reported in human illness. Therefore, better understanding of the pathogenic mechanism of V. alginolyticus infection is urgently needed. Vvrr1 (Vibrio virulence regulatory RNA 1) is a new found ncRNA predicted to be closely related to the adhesion ability of V. alginolyticus through the previous RNA-seq. In this study, the target genes of Vvrr1 were fully screened and verified by constructing Vvrr1 over-expressed strains and proteome sequencing technology.

Effect of Neoadjuvant Radiation on Tumor Infiltrating T-cells by Low Dose Radiation in Colorectal Liver Metastases

Project description:The efficiency of T cell based immunotherapies is affected by the insufficient migration and activity of tumor specific effector T cells in the tumor. Aim of this phase I/II clinical trial is to evaluate whether a neoadjuvant, low dose radiotherapy can improve T cell connected anti tumor immune response in colorectal liver metastases. The primary endpoint is the number of tumor infiltrating T cells. Furthermore the T cell activity in situ, the number of regulatory T cells and the frequency of tumor reactive T cells in the blood and bone marrow will be examined.
