Project description:This paper presents a dataset with 5513 images of individual soybean seeds, which encompass five categories: (Ⅰ) Intact, (Ⅱ) Immature, (Ⅲ) Skin-damaged, (Ⅳ) Spotted, and (Ⅴ) Broken. Furthermore, there are over 1000 images of soybean seeds in each category. Those images of individual soybeans were classified into five categories based on the Standard of Soybean Classification (GB1352-2009) [1]. The soybean images with the seeds in physical touch were captured by an industrial camera. Subsequently, individual soybean images (227×227 pixels) were divided from the soybean images (3072×2048 pixels) using an image-processing algorithm with a segmentation accuracy of over 98%. The dataset can serve to study the classification or quality assessment of soybean seeds.

Project description:The dataset presented in this paper consists of sentiment information extracted from image and text data of financial subreddit posts. Members of these subreddits post about their trading behavior, express their opinions, and discuss capital market trends. Their posts contain sentiment information on financial topics as well as signaling information on trading decisions. Frequently, members post screenshots of their portfolios from their mobile broker apps. We collected the posts, processed them to extract sentiment scores using various methods, and anonymized them. The dataset consists therefore not of any content from the posts or information about the author, but the processed sentiment information within the post. Further financial tickers mentioned in the posts are tracked, such that the effect of sentiment in the posts can be attributed to financial products and used in the context of financial forecasting. The posts were collected using the Reddit [2] and Pushshift APIs [3] and processed using an Amazon Web Services architecture. A fine-tuned MobileNets artificial neural network [4] was used to classify images into four distinct categories, which had been determined in a preliminary analysis. The categories included classical memes, number posts (e.g. screenshots of mobile broker portfolios), text posts (e.g. screenshots from twitter) and chart posts (e.g. other financial screenshots, such as charts). The reason for the classification of images into the four categories is that the images are so inherently different, that different extraction methods had to be applied for each category. OCR - methods [5] were used to extract text from images. Custom methods were applied to extract sentiment and other information from the resulting text. The data [1] is available on a 20-minute basis and can be used in many areas, such as financial forecasting and analyzing sentiment dynamics in social media posts.

Project description:Over 200 georeferenced registered rephotographic compilations of the Faroe Islands are provided in this dataset. The position of each compilation is georeferenced and thus locatable on a map. Each compilation consists of a historical and a corresponding contemporary image showing the same scene. With steady object features, these two images of the same geolocation are aligned pixel accurately. In the summer of 2022, all contemporary images were photographed by A. Schaffland, while historical images were retrieved from the National Museum of Denmark collections. Images show Faroese landscape and cultural heritage sites, focusing on relevant areas when the historical images were taken, e.g., Kirkjubøur, Tórshavn, and Saksun. Historic images date from the end of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century. The historical images were taken by scientists, surveyors, archaeologists, and painters. All historical images are in the public domain, have no known rights, or are shared under a CC license. The contemporary images by A. Schaffland are released under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. The dataset is organized as a GIS project. Historic images, not already georeferenced, were referenced with street view services. All historical images were added to the GIS database, containing camera position, viewing direction, etc. Each compilation can be displayed as an arrow from the camera position along the view direction on a map. Contemporary images were registered to historical images using a specialized tool. None or only a suboptimal rephotograph could be taken for some historical images. These historical images are still added to the database together with all other original images, providing additional data for improvements in rephotography methods in the upcoming years. The resulting image pairs can be used in image registration, landscape change, urban development, and cultural heritage research. Further, the database can be used for public engagement in heritage and as a benchmark for further rephotography and time-series projects.

Project description:PurposeTo describe a large, publicly available dataset comprising computed tomography (CT) projection data from patient exams, both at routine clinical doses and simulated lower doses.Acquisition and validation methodsThe library was developed under local ethics committee approval. Projection and image data from 299 clinically performed patient CT exams were archived for three types of clinical exams: noncontrast head CT scans acquired for acute cognitive or motor deficit, low-dose noncontrast chest scans acquired to screen high-risk patients for pulmonary nodules, and contrast-enhanced CT scans of the abdomen acquired to look for metastatic liver lesions. Scans were performed on CT systems from two different CT manufacturers using routine clinical protocols. Projection data were validated by reconstructing the data using several different reconstruction algorithms and through use of the data in the 2016 Low Dose CT Grand Challenge. Reduced dose projection data were simulated for each scan using a validated noise-insertion method. Radiologists marked location and diagnosis for detected pathologies. Reference truth was obtained from the patient medical record, either from histology or subsequent imaging.Data format and usage notesProjection datasets were converted into the previously developed DICOM-CT-PD format, which is an extended DICOM format created to store CT projections and acquisition geometry in a nonproprietary format. Image data are stored in the standard DICOM image format and clinical data in a spreadsheet. Materials are provided to help investigators use the DICOM-CT-PD files, including a dictionary file, data reader, and user manual. The library is publicly available from The Cancer Imaging Archive (https://doi.org/10.7937/9npb-2637).Potential applicationsThis CT data library will facilitate the development and validation of new CT reconstruction and/or denoising algorithms, including those associated with machine learning or artificial intelligence. The provided clinical information allows evaluation of task-based diagnostic performance.

Project description:Imaging through turbulence has been the subject of many research papers in a variety of fields, including defence, astronomy, earth observations, and medicine. The main goal of such research is usually to recover the original, undisturbed image, in which the impact of spatially dependent blurring induced by the phase modulation of the light wavefront is removed. The number of turbulence-disturbed image databases available online is small, and the datasets usually contain repeating types of ground objects (cars, buildings, ships, chessboard patterns). In this article, we present a database of solar images in widely varying turbulence conditions obtained from the SUTO-Solar patrol station recorded over a period of more than a year. The dataset contains image sequences of distinctive yet randomly selected fragments of the solar chromosphere and photosphere. Reference images have been provided with the data using computationally intensive image recovery with the latest multiframe blind deconvolution technique, which is widely accepted in solar imaging. The presented dataset will be extended in the next few years as new image sequences are routinely acquired each sunny day at the SUTO-Solar station.

With over 11500+ high-quality processed images representing 12 distinct classes, this dataset is a comprehensive collection of different varieties of dry fruits. The four dry fruits included in this dataset are Almonds, Cashew Nuts, Raisins, and Dried Figs (Anjeer), along with three subtypes of each. This makes it a total of 12 distinct classes of dry fruits, each with its unique features, shape, and size. The dataset will be useful for building machine learning models that can classify and recognize different types of dry fruits under different conditions, and can also be beneficial for dry fruit research, education, and medicinal purposes. Due to their nutritional value and health advantages, dry fruits have been consumed for a very long time. One of the best strategies to improve general health is to include dry fruits in the diet.

Project description:We record Optical coherence tomography (OCT) images of various textile fabrics. Each textile fabric consisted of one material only: wool, cotton or polyester. We took OCT images from three different fabrics for each material type giving a total of 9 different fabrics. We scan each material at least a hundred times at different places on each surface. In order to have approximately consistent data between samples, the scans for each image were fixed to 2 mm scan length and saved in a portable network format. We divide the material data into three categories. Groups 1, 2, and 3 consisted only of cotton, wool, and polyester fabrics, respectively. These were placed in folders, becoming the labelled dataset for deep learning training classes. We publish this OCT fabric image dataset publicly. Researchers can utilize the data to train deep learning networks, test existing machine learning algorithms, or develop new systems for automated material classification and recycling.

Project description:This article introduces a comprehensive dataset designed for researchers to classify diseases in Luffa leaves, determine the grade of Luffa from Luffa images, and identify different growth stages throughout the year. The dataset is meticulously organized into three sections, each concentrating on specific facets of Luffa Aegyptiaca, commonly known as Smooth Luffa (Dhundol/). These images were captured in various village fields in Faridpur, Bangladesh. The sections include the assessment of Smooth Luffa quality, the identification of plant diseases, and the documentation of Luffa flowers. The dataset is divided into three sections, totaling 1933 original JPG images. The "Luffa Diseases" section features images of smooth Luffa leaves, depicting various diseases and unaffected leaves. Categories in this section encompass Alternaria Disease, Angular Spot Disease, Holed Leaves, Mosaic Virus, and Fresh Leaves, totaling 1228 JPG raw images. The "Flowers" category comprises 362 JPG raw images, showcasing different maturity stages in smooth Luffa flowers. Finally, the "Luffa Grade" section focuses on categorizing smooth Luffa into fresh and defective categories, presenting 343 JPG raw images for this purpose.

Project description:Nitrogen (N) is one of the key inputs in maize production applied in the form of fertilizers. Nitrogen deficiency during the vegetation period leads to lower yields since N is utilized in proteins and enzymes that enable important biochemical processes such as photosynthesis. Nitrogen deficiency leads to specific symptoms that eventually become visible to the naked eye during vegetation. Our hypothesis was that N deficiency can be detected from maize RGB images in parametric process such as a deep neural network. The aim of the reported dataset is to optimize the usage of N in the farmer's fields and accordingly, reduce its environmental footprint. This dataset contains 1200 images of maize canopy from field trials, annotated by an expert from an agricultural institution. The field trials included three levels of N fertilization: N0 without N fertilization, N75 with 75 kg of added N fertilizer, and NFull with 136 kg of added N fertilizer. For each fertilizer level, 400 plots were created with 238 different maize genotypes, resulting in a total of 1200 plots. Images were taken with a tripod mounted DSLR camera, aperture priority set to f/8 and sensor sensitivity set to ISO400. Images were taken at a 45° angle to each plot. This dataset can be useful to both researchers, data scientists and agronomists, especially in the context of emerging technologies in precision agriculture, such as robotics, 5G networks and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The dataset is one of the first publicly accessible datasets of maize canopy images under different N fertilization levels and represents a valuable public resource for development of machine learning models for in-season detection of N deficiency in maize.

Project description:Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become popular platforms for collecting various types of geospatial data for various mapping, monitoring and modelling applications. With the advancement of imaging and computing technologies, a vast variety of photogrammetric, computer-vision and, nowadays, end-to-end learning workflows are introduced to produce three-dimensional (3D) information in form of digital surface and terrain models, textured meshes, rectified mosaics, CAD models, etc. These 3D products might be used in applications where accuracy and precision play a vital role, e.g. structural health monitoring. Therefore, extensive tests against data with relevant characteristics and reliable ground-truth are required to assess and ensure the performance of 3D modelling workflows. This article describes the images collected by a customized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system from an open-pit gravel mine accompanied with additional data that will allow implementing and evaluating any structure-from-motion or photogrammetric approach for sparse or dense 3D reconstruction. This dataset includes total of 158 high-quality images captured with more than 80% endlap and spatial resolution higher than 1.5 cm, the 3D coordinates of 109 ground control points and checkpoints, 2D coordinates of more than 40K corresponding points among the images, a subset of 25 multi-view stereo images selected from an area of approximately 30 m × 40 m within the scene accompanied with a dense point cloud measured by a terrestrial laser scanner.
