Maintenance of H3K9me2 heterochromatin in the pollen vegetative nucleus requires ARID1 nuclear body formation
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: The chromatin of the pollen vegetative nucleus undergoes de-condensation after the first pollen mitosis, which is generally regarded as a loss of heterochromatin characteristics. We demonstrate that a basal level of H3K9me2 is, in fact, maintained in the decondensed vegetative nucleus and that the heterochromatic silencing factor ARID1 is necessary for this maintenance via its C-terminus-mediated nuclear body formation.
