ABSTRACT: The experiment was conducted using grapevines of Cabernet Sauvignon grown in a field. At veraison, the clusters in the vines were sprayed with a 400 mgl-1(+)-abscisic acid (ABA) solution. The ABA treated berries and non-treated berries (control) were harvested at 14 and 28 days after veraison and peeled. Gene expression associated with compatible viral diseases in berry

Project description:To understand the fruit changes and mechanisms involved in the compatible grapevine-virus interaction, we analyzed the berry transcriptome in two stages of development (veraison and ripening) in the red wine cultivar Cabernet Sauvignon infected with Grapevine leaf-roll-associated virus-3 (GLRaV-3). Analysis of global gene expression patterns indicate incomplete berry maturation in infected berries as compared to uninfected fruit suggesting viral infection interrupts the normal berry maturation process. High temperature effect on Cabernet Sauvignon berries

Project description:The experiment was conducted using four 11-year-old potted grapevines of V. vinifera L. cv. Cabernet Sauvignon grafted on SO4 (Selection Oppenheim No. 4) grown in a phytotron. Vines were trained on a Guyot trellising system and each vine carried 4-10 clusters of grapes. The experiment started approximately 1 week before veraison, when berry softening started, and continued to fruit maturity. The two temperature regimes consisted of a high day (06.00–20.00 h) temperature (max.35C) and a control (max. 25C). Under both conditions, the night-time (20.00–06.00 h) temperature was 20C. Sauvignon blanc berry developmental

Project description:Berries were sample at three developmental stages (green, veraison and ripe) and flash frozen in the field in liquid nitrogen. The frozen tissue was subsequently ground in liquid nitrogen and stored at 80°C. At least three independent berry samples were collected (with n≥50 berries per sample) at three time points: at pre-véraison/green stage (Eichhorn-Lorenz (E-L) system stage 31), at véraison (E-L stage 34) and at ripe/harvest stage (E-L stage 38)
