ABSTRACT: Barley florets (cv. Morex) were treated with 2.0 microgram deoxynivalenol per floret via a 10 microliter solution or mock inoculated with water. Trichothecenes are a major group of toxins produced by phytopathogenic fungi, including Fusarium graminearum. Trichothecenes inhibit protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells and are toxicologically relevant mycotoxins for humans and animals.
