Transcription profiling of E. coli K-12 wild type with R1drd19 biofilm vs wild type without R1drd19 biofilm


ABSTRACT: E. coli K-12 wild type strains gene expression in biofilm cells with R1drd19 relative to that in biofilm cells of E. coli K-12 wild type strains without R1drd19. All the samples were cultured in LB or M9C glu on glass wool at different time. Experiment Overall Design: Strains: E. coli K-12 strains with and without R1drd19 respectively; Experiment Overall Design: Medium: LB was used for BW25113 strains, and M9C glu was used for MG1655 strains; Experiment Overall Design: Biofilm grown on glass wool; Experiment Overall Design: Time: 7h, 15h, 24h respectively; Experiment Overall Design: Cell type: biofilm.

Differential gene expression in biofilm cells suggests that adding the derepressed conjugative plasmid R1drd19 increases biofilm formation by affecting genes related to envelope stress (rseA and cpxAR), biofilm formation (bssR and cstA), energy production (glpDFK), acid resistance (gadABCEX and hdeABD), and cell motility (csgBEFG, yehCD, yadC, and yfcV); genes encoding outer membrane proteins (ompACF), phage shock proteins (pspABCDE), and cold shock proteins (cspACDEG); and phage-related genes.  ...[more]
