Next Generation Sequencing of liver and subcutaneous fat tissues obtained from obese subjects

ABSTRACT: Patients had low calorie diet weight reduction run in prior to the day of surgery. The human liver and subcutaneous fat tissue samples were obtained from 12 obese subjects undergoing bariatric surgery and then used for the mRNA expression analyses. mRNA profiles of human liver and subcutaneous fat tissue samples were generated by RNA sequencing using Illumina HiSeq 2500. This dataset is part of the TransQST collection.

To investigate the biological processes that are altered in obese subjects, we generated cell-specific integrated networks (INs) by merging genome-scale metabolic, transcriptional regulatory and protein-protein interaction networks. We performed genome-wide transcriptomics analysis to determine the global gene expression changes in the liver and three adipose tissues from obese subjects undergoing bariatric surgery and integrated these data into the cell-specific INs. We found dysregulations in  ...[more]
