GE expression profile of PBMCs in healthy subjects and MS patients after extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) intake - PART 3 - MS Patients

ABSTRACT: Gene expression profiles of PBMCs in patients with MS following extra virgin olive oil intake. The aim of the present study was to investigate the whole-genome gene and miRNA profiles of after EVOO intake. Results provide the information of changes in PBMCs transcriptome following EVOO intake. RNA obtained from PBMCs of the same patients before and after extra virgin olive oil intake (paired samples). Comparisons: T0 vs. T1 (paired samples)

ORGANISM(S): Homo sapiens

Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) consumption has been associated with reduced cardiovascular risk but molecular mechanisms underlying its beneficial effects are not fully understood. Here we aimed to identify genes and miRNAs expression changes mediated by acute high- and low-polyphenols EVOO intake. Pre- and post-challenge gene and miRNAs expression analysis was performed on the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of 12 healthy subjects and 12 patients with metabolic syndrome (MS) by using  ...[more]
