Transcription profiling time series of chicken cell culturs infected with Chicken Anaemia Virus CAV

ABSTRACT: Chicken anaemia virus (CAV) causes severe anaemia and immunosuppression in young chickens. Such effects reduce the efficiency of routine vaccinations while aggravating the effects of other pathogens in chicken populations. So far, the host responses to CAV have not been studied in vivo or in vitro on a whole genome-wide scale. In this study, we compared gene expression profiles of uninfected and CAV infected cell cultures (MDCC-MSB1 cells-in vitro) at 24, 48 and 72 hr post infection. A chicken specific-immune microarray (5k) developed at Roslin Institute was used throughout the study. Statistically significant gene expression changes occurred mainly after 72 hr (in vitro).
