Transcriptional effects of estrogen result from its activation of two estrogen receptor (ER) isoforms; ERalpha that drives proliferation and ERbeta that is antiproliferative. Expression of ERbeta in xenograft tumors from the T47D breast cancer cell line reduces tumor growth and angiogenesis.
