ScRNAseq of olfactory mucosa and olfactory bulb of WT and Tspo knockout rats
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: We utilized single-cell RNA sequencing to examine gene expression changes in olfactory mucosa and olfactory bulb cells following knockout of translocator protein (18 kDa; Tspo) in Sprague Dawley rats. Tspo has been found to be highly expressed in the olfactory system in normal physiological conditions relative to the rest of the central nervous system, but its function in the olfactory system has not been thorougly explored. This study is the first to examine olfactory system cells from both the olfactory bulb and olfactory mucosa utilizing WT and Tspo-KO rats, which will give insight into how removal of Tspo alters functions of various cells in the olfactory system.
