Uptake and toxic mechanisms following chronic exposure to radium-224 dichloride in Caenorhabditis elegans
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: the study investigated effects of chronic α irradiation on somatic growth, fertility, germ cell apoptosis, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, and the transcriptomic mechanisms using the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans). Furthermore, chronic exposure to 224RaCl2 solutions, with activity concentrations ranging from 0 to 2107 Bq mL-1, enabled investigation of the uptake and toxic mode of NORM representative 224Ra and associated transcriptomic responses among nematode populations.
