Project description:The transcriptomes of resistant BPH15 introgression line and the susceptible recipient line were analyzed using high-throughput RNA sequencing. In total, 2,914 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. BPH-responsive transcript profiles were distinct between resistant and susceptible plants and between the early stage (6 h after infestation, HAI) and late stage (48 HAI). Comparison of basal gene expression strengths between Schrenkiella parvula and Arabidopsis thaliana

Project description:Using RNA sequencing, we compared transcriptomes of root and aerial tissues of S. parvula and Arabidopsis and identified genes and pathways with significantly different basal expression strengths. Many stress-related ion transporter genes in S. parvula showed increased copy numbers and basal expression strengths compared with Arabidopsis, with evidence of subfunctionalization. These results provide a blueprint for mechanisms of plant ion stress tolerance as well as potential genetic resources for crop improvement in closely related species. Transcriptome of bhlh010, bhlh089 and bhlh091 mutant anthers

Project description:Transcriptomic analysis of single, double and triple mutant anthers of bhlh010, bhlh089 and bhlh091. We examine here three recently duplicated Arabidopsis bHLH genes, bHLH010, bHLH089 and bHLH091, using evolutionary, genetic, morphological and transcriptomic approaches, and uncover their redundant functions in anther development. These three genes are relatively highly expressed in the tapetum of the Arabidopsis anther; single mutants at each of the bHLH010, bHLH089 and bHLH091 loci are developmentally normal, but the various double and triple combinations progressively exhibit increasingly defective anther phenotypes (abnormal tapetum morphology, delayed callose degeneration, and aborted pollen development), indicating their redundant functions in male fertility.
