Transcription profiling of mouse developing forebrain primary neuronal cultures

ABSTRACT: C57BL/6 mice at 17.5 days of pregnancy were sacrifced and forebrains of embryos were dissected. Cell plating and culture manipulation were done as previously described [E-MEXP-878]. At day 1, day 2, day 4 and day 8 of in vitro culture development, total RNA was extracted and profiled on Illumina Sentrix BeadChip Array Mouse-WG6 v1.1 microarray platform.

Background
Synapse formation and the development of neural networks are known to be controlled by a coordinated program of mRNA synthesis. microRNAs are now recognized to be important regulators of mRNA translation and stability in a wide variety of organisms. While specific microRNAs are known to be involved in neural development, the extent to which global microRNA and mRNA profiles are coordinately regulated in neural development is unknown.
Results
We examined mouse primary ne ...[more]
