Anticoagulation therapy is a mainstay of the treatment of thrombotic disorders; however, conventional anticoagulants trade antithrombotic benefits for bleeding risk. Factor (f) XI deficiency, known as hemophilia C, rarely causes spontaneous bleeding, suggesting that fXI plays a limited role in hemostasis.
