The complete mitogenome of Paratanakia chii (Cypriniformes; Cyprinidae).

ABSTRACT: Paratanakia chii is a bitterling fish of the genus Paratanakia, subfamily Acheilognathinae and family Cyprinidae. The mitochondrial DNA sequence of P. chii is reported in this paper. The complete mitochondrial genome of P. chii is 16,575 bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 1 displacement loop (D-loop). The genome sequence is consistent with those of most other carp. The majority of PCGs have AT- (Met) start codons and TA- end codons. The A + T contents of the genome, PCGs, transfer RNAs (tRNAs), and ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs) are 56.92%, 58.07%, 56.34%, and 54.21%, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis showed that P. chii is most closely related to Tanankia himantegus. These data will benefit relative ecological and phylogenetic studies.

Project description:In this study, we firstly sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome of Schizopygopsis stoliczkai (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) from the Yarkand River, Xinjiang, China. The mitogenome is 16,833 bp in length, composed of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 2 non-coding regions (origin of light-strand replication and control region). The gene content and order is in accord with the common vertebrate form. The nucleotide base composition of H-strand is 28.4% A, 27.0% T, 26.1% C, and 18.5% G. The phylogenetic analysis based on the complete mitochondrial sequences showed that S. stoliczkai was clustered into Schizopygopsis clade.

Characterization of the complete mitogenome of Gymnocypris dobula (Gunther, 1868) (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:Gymnocypris dobula, classified into the highly specialized Schizothoracine fish, is endemic to Tibet, China. The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of G. dobula was 16,728 base pairs in length and comprised 22 transfer RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes as well as one control region as in a typical vertebrate mitochondrial DNA gene. The ML and BI trees showed that G. dobula was most closely related to Gymnocypris scleracanthus within the highly specialized group. This mitogenome provides new molecular data for further taxonomic and phylogenetic studies of Schizothoracine fish.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the Korean oily shinner Sarcocheilichthys nigripinnis morii (Cypriniformes, cyprinidae): mitogenome characterization and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:The Korean oily shinner (Sarcocheilichthys nigripinnis morii) is a subspecies belonging to the subfamily Gobioninae in the family Cyprinidae and is endemic to Korea. Herein, we report the first sequencing and assembly of the complete mitochondrial genome of S. nigripinnis morii. The complete mitochondrial genome is 16,679 bp long, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a control region. It has the typical vertebrate mitochondrial gene arrangement. Phylogenetic analysis using mitogenomes of 16 species showed that S. nigripinnis morii was clustered with S. nigripinnis and S. variegatus microoculus and grouped with the other Cyprinidae species.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Schizothorax davidi (Teleostei: Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:This study provides a mitochondrial complete genome of Schizothorax davidi. The complete genome is 16,576 bp in length with an A + T content of 54.9%, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that S. davidi is closely related to Schizothorax lissolabiatus. These results contribute to explore the adaptation strategy of S. davidi on the conditions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

The complete mitochondrion genome of the Barbodes hexagonolepis (Cypriniformes, cyprinidae).

Project description:The Barbodes hexagonolepis, as an important commercial species, had the limited resources on biology and genetics. We reported the complete mitogenome of this species, and got a whole length of 16 587 bp (containing two rRNAs, 22 tRNAs, 13 mRNAs and one D-loop region). The two rRNAs located between tRNAphe and tRNAleu and were separated by tRNAval. The 22 tRNAs was ranged from 66 bp (tRNAcys) to 76 bp (tRNAleu and tRNAlys) in length. The 13 mRNAs had four overlap regions, three types of start codons and four types of termination codons. The D-loop region was found between tRNAPro and tRNAPhe. To further explore the phylogenetic relationship of the B. hexagonolepis, we constructed the phylogenetic tree and verified that the B. hexagonolepi was a part of the Barbinae and independent from other genus of the Barbinae. This result provided the valuable evidence on phylogenetic relationship of the B. hexagonolepi at the molecular level and essential resource for further research on this species.

Complete mitogenome of Nemacheilus subfusca (Cypriniformes: Cobitidae).

Project description:The Nemacheilus subfusca (N. subfusca) is a species of the Noemacheilinae in the Cobitidae family, which has been few reported. The first complete mitochondrion of the N. subfusca is 16 585 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes (12S and 16S rRNA), 22 tRNA genes and a control region (D-loop region). The longest protein-coding gene of this mitochondrion was ND5 (1839 bp), and the 22 tRNA genes were range from 66 (tRNACys ) to 76 (tRNALys ) in length. The 12S rRNA (957 bp) and 16S rRNA (1677 bp) were separated by TrnaVal , and the D-loop region located between tRNAPro and tRNAPhe genes. The phylogenetic indicates that the N. subfusca was independent from other species of distinct genus in the Noemacheilinae, which provided the valuable evidence on phylogenetic relationship of the N. subfusca at the molecular level.

Project description:Shizothorax grahami (S. grahami) is an underlying economic cold-freshwater fish in southwest China. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of S. grahami was determined (GenBank accession number is NC_029708). The mitochondrial genome sequence of S. grahami was a circular molecule with 16,584 bp in length, and contained 37 typical animal mitochondrial genes including 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and a control region (D-loop). Four nucleotide compositions and their relative proportions of the entire mitogenome was 27.14% C, 19.93% G, 29.58% A and 25.34% T. Among most species of genus Shizothorax, Schizothorax davidi had the closest relationship with S. grahami, and then Schizothorax prenanti.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Neolissochilus benasi has been determined by polymerase chain reaction method for the first time. The overall base composition of N. benasi mitogenome is 31.8% for A, 27.4% for C, 15.9% for G and 25.0% for T. The percentage of G + C content is 41.3%. The mitogenome is a circular DNA molecule of 16 583 bp in length with a D-loop region and contains 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes and 13 protein-coding genes. The mitochondrial genome sequencing for N. benasi in this study provides important molecular data for further evolutionary analysis for Cyprinoidea.
