The vast majority of drug-induced liver injury is mainly attributed to acetaminophen (APAP) overdose. Salvianolic acid A (Sal A), a powerful water-soluble compound obtained from <i>Salvia miltiorrhiza</i>, has been confirmed to exert hepatoprotective effects.
