Calcins are peptides from scorpion venom with the unique ability to cross cell membranes, gaining access to intracellular targets. Ryanodine Receptors (RyR) are intracellular ion channels that control release of Ca<sup>2+</sup> from the endoplasmic and sarcoplasmic reticulum.
