Pertussis (whooping cough) is a respiratory disease caused primarily by <i>Bordetella pertussis</i>, a Gram-negative bacteria. Pertussis is a relatively contagious infectious disease in people of all ages, mainly affecting newborns and infants under 2 months of age.
