<i>Ergasilus</i> (von Nordmann, 1832) (Ergasilidae) is a species-rich group of parasitic copepods with a wide distribution in freshwater, marine and brackish environments. Up to now, 9 species of <i>Ergasilus</i> are known from cichlid fishes in Africa.
