VIOLA jones algorithm with capsule graph network for deepfake detection.

ABSTRACT: DeepFake is a forged image or video created using deep learning techniques. The present fake content of the detection technique can detect trivial images such as barefaced fake faces. Moreover, the capability of current methods to detect fake faces is minimal. Many recent types of research have made the fake detection algorithm from rule-based to machine-learning models. However, the emergence of deep learning technology with intelligent improvement motivates this specified research to use deep learning techniques. Thus, it is proposed to have VIOLA Jones's (VJ) algorithm for selecting the best features with Capsule Graph Neural Network (CN). The graph neural network is improved by capsule-based node feature extraction to improve the results of the graph neural network. The experiment is evaluated with CelebDF-FaceForencics++ (c23) datasets, which combines FaceForencies++ (c23) and Celeb-DF. In the end, it is proved that the accuracy of the proposed model has achieved 94.

A Hybrid Vehicle Detection Method Based on Viola-Jones and HOG + SVM from UAV Images.

Project description:A new hybrid vehicle detection scheme which integrates the Viola-Jones (V-J) and linear SVM classifier with HOG feature (HOG + SVM) methods is proposed for vehicle detection from low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images. As both V-J and HOG + SVM are sensitive to on-road vehicles' in-plane rotation, the proposed scheme first adopts a roadway orientation adjustment method, which rotates each UAV image to align the roads with the horizontal direction so the original V-J or HOG + SVM method can be directly applied to achieve fast detection and high accuracy. To address the issue of descending detection speed for V-J and HOG + SVM, the proposed scheme further develops an adaptive switching strategy which sophistically integrates V-J and HOG + SVM methods based on their different descending trends of detection speed to improve detection efficiency. A comprehensive evaluation shows that the switching strategy, combined with the road orientation adjustment method, can significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the vehicle detection from UAV images. The results also show that the proposed vehicle detection method is competitive compared with other existing vehicle detection methods. Furthermore, since the proposed vehicle detection method can be performed on videos captured from moving UAV platforms without the need of image registration or additional road database, it has great potentials of field applications. Future research will be focusing on expanding the current method for detecting other transportation modes such as buses, trucks, motors, bicycles, and pedestrians.

Detection of Network Motif Based on a Novel Graph Canonization Algorithm from Transcriptional Regulation Networks.

Project description:Network motifs are patterns of complex networks occurring significantly more frequently than those in random networks. They have been considered as fundamental building blocks of complex networks. Therefore, the detection of network motifs in transcriptional regulation networks is a crucial step in understanding the mechanism of transcriptional regulation and network evolution. The search for network motifs is similar to solving subgraph searching problems, which has proven to be NP-complete. To quickly and effectively count subgraphs of a large biological network, we propose a novel graph canonization algorithm based on resolving sets. This method has been implemented in a command line interface (CLI) program sgip using the SeqAn library. Comparing to Babai's algorithm, this approach has a tighter complexity bound, o ( exp ( n log 2 n + 4 log n ) ) , on strongly regular graphs. Results on several simulated datasets and transcriptional regulation networks indicate that sgip outperforms nauty on many graph cases. Project description:Deepfake (DF) is a kind of forged image or video that is developed to spread misinformation and facilitate vulnerabilities to privacy hacking and truth masking with advanced technologies, including deep learning and artificial intelligence with trained algorithms. This kind of multimedia manipulation, such as changing facial expressions or speech, can be used for a variety of purposes to spread misinformation or exploitation. With the recent advancement of generative adversarial networks (GANs) in deep learning models, DF has become an essential part of social media. To detect forged video and images, numerous methods have been developed, and those methods are focused on a particular domain and obsolete in the case of new attacks/threats. Hence, a novel method needs to be developed to tackle new attacks. The method introduced in this article can detect various types of spoofs of images and videos that are computationally generated using deep learning models, such as variants of long short-term memory and convolutional neural networks. The first phase of this proposed work extracts the feature frames from the forged video/image using a sparse autoencoder with a graph long short-term memory (SAE-GLSTM) method at training time. Deepfake detection with and without content warnings.

Project description:The rapid advancement of 'deepfake' video technology-which uses deep learning artificial intelligence algorithms to create fake videos that look real-has given urgency to the question of how policymakers and technology companies should moderate inauthentic content. We conduct an experiment to measure people's alertness to and ability to detect a high-quality deepfake among a set of videos. First, we find that in a natural setting with no content warnings, individuals who are exposed to a deepfake video of neutral content are no more likely to detect anything out of the ordinary (32.9%) compared to a control group who viewed only authentic videos (34.1%). Second, we find that when individuals are given a warning that at least one video in a set of five is a deepfake, only 21.6% of respondents correctly identify the deepfake as the only inauthentic video, while the remainder erroneously select at least one genuine video as a deepfake.

Crystal structure prediction by combining graph network and optimization algorithm.

Project description:Crystal structure prediction is a long-standing challenge in condensed matter and chemical science. Here we report a machine-learning approach for crystal structure prediction, in which a graph network (GN) is employed to establish a correlation model between the crystal structure and formation enthalpies at the given database, and an optimization algorithm (OA) is used to accelerate the search for crystal structure with lowest formation enthalpy. The framework of the utilized approach (a database + a GN model + an optimization algorithm) is flexible. We implemented two benchmark databases, i.e., the open quantum materials database (OQMD) and Matbench (MatB), and three OAs, i.e., random searching (RAS), particle-swarm optimization (PSO) and Bayesian optimization (BO), that can predict crystal structures at a given number of atoms in a periodic cell. The comparative studies show that the GN model trained on MatB combined with BO, i.e., GN(MatB)-BO, exhibit the best performance for predicting crystal structures of 29 typical compounds with a computational cost three orders of magnitude less than that required for conventional approaches screening structures through density functional theory calculation. The flexible framework in combination with a materials database, a graph network, and an optimization algorithm may open new avenues for data-driven crystal structural predictions.

Deepfake video detection: YOLO-Face convolution recurrent approach.

Project description:Recently, the deepfake techniques for swapping faces have been spreading, allowing easy creation of hyper-realistic fake videos. Detecting the authenticity of a video has become increasingly critical because of the potential negative impact on the world. Here, a new project is introduced; You Only Look Once Convolution Recurrent Neural Networks (YOLO-CRNNs), to detect deepfake videos. The YOLO-Face detector detects face regions from each frame in the video, whereas a fine-tuned EfficientNet-B5 is used to extract the spatial features of these faces. These features are fed as a batch of input sequences into a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM), to extract the temporal features. The new scheme is then evaluated on a new large-scale dataset; CelebDF-FaceForencics++ (c23), based on a combination of two popular datasets; FaceForencies++ (c23) and Celeb-DF. It achieves an Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (AUROC) 89.35% score, 89.38% accuracy, 83.15% recall, 85.55% precision, and 84.33% F1-measure for pasting data approach. The experimental analysis approves the superiority of the proposed method compared to the state-of-the-art methods.

Fast moving table tennis ball tracking algorithm based on graph neural network.

Project description:The key object tracking in sports video scenarios poses a pivotal challenge in the analysis of sports techniques and tactics. In table tennis, due to the small size and rapid motion of the ball, identifying and tracking the table tennis ball through video is a particularly arduous task, where the majority of existing detection and tracking algorithms struggle to meet the practical application requirements in real-world scenarios. To address this issue, this paper proposes a combined technical approach integrating detection and discrimination, tailored to the unique motion characteristics of table tennis. For the detector, we utilize and refine a common video differential detector. As for the discriminator, we introduce GMP (a Graph Max-message Pass Neural Network), which is designed specifically for tracking table tennis balls or similar objects. Furthermore, we enhance an existing dataset for table tennis tracking problems by enriching its scenarios. The results demonstrate that our proposed technical solution performs impressively on both the dataset and the intended real-world environments, showcasing the good scalability of our algorithms and models as well as their potential for application in other scenarios.

Risk stratification and pathway analysis based on graph neural network and interpretable algorithm.

Project description:BackgroundPathway-based analysis of transcriptomic data has shown greater stability and better performance than traditional gene-based analysis. Until now, some pathway-based deep learning models have been developed for bioinformatic analysis, but these models have not fully considered the topological features of pathways, which limits the performance of the final prediction result.ResultsTo address this issue, we propose a novel model, called PathGNN, which constructs a Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) model that can capture topological features of pathways. As a case, PathGNN was applied to predict long-term survival of four types of cancer and achieved promising predictive performance when compared to other common methods. Furthermore, the adoption of an interpretation algorithm enabled the identification of plausible pathways associated with survival.ConclusionPathGNN demonstrates that GNN can be effectively applied to build a pathway-based model, resulting in promising predictive power.

Convolutional capsule network for COVID-19 detection using radiography images.

Project description:Novel corona virus COVID-19 has spread rapidly all over the world. Due to increasing COVID-19 cases, there is a dearth of testing kits. Therefore, there is a severe need for an automatic recognition system as a solution to reduce the spreading of the COVID-19 virus. This work offers a decision support system based on the X-ray image to diagnose the presence of the COVID-19 virus. A deep learning-based computer-aided decision support system will be capable to differentiate between COVID-19 and pneumonia. Recently, convolutional neural network (CNN) is designed for the diagnosis of COVID-19 patients through chest radiography (or chest X-ray, CXR) images. However, due to the usage of CNN, there are some limitations with these decision support systems. These systems suffer with the problem of view-invariance and loss of information due to down-sampling. In this paper, the capsule network (CapsNet)-based system named visual geometry group capsule network (VGG-CapsNet) for the diagnosis of COVID-19 is proposed. Due to the usage of capsule network (CapsNet), the authors have succeeded in removing the drawbacks found in the CNN-based decision support system for the detection of COVID-19. Through simulation results, it is found that VGG-CapsNet has performed better than the CNN-CapsNet model for the diagnosis of COVID-19. The proposed VGG-CapsNet-based system has shown 97% accuracy for COVID-19 versus non-COVID-19 classification, and 92% accuracy for COVID-19 versus normal versus viral pneumonia classification. Proposed VGG-CapsNet-based system available at https://github.com/shamiktiwari/COVID19_Xray can be used to detect the existence of COVID-19 virus in the human body through chest radiographic images.
