Deoxyribozymes (DNAzymes) are <i>in vitro</i> evolved DNA sequences capable of catalyzing chemical reactions. The RNA cleaving 10-23 DNAzyme was the first DNAzyme to be evolved and possesses clinical and biotechnical applications as a biosensor and a knockdown agent.
