PHRF1 is an E3 ligase that promotes TGF-β signaling by ubiquitinating a homeodomain repressor TG-interacting factor (TGIF). The suppression of PHRF1 activity by PML-RARα facilitates the progression of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL).
