Multi-channel feature fusion attention Dehazing network.

ABSTRACT: Haze is a typical weather phenomena that has a significant negative impact on transportation safety, particularly in the port, highways, and airport runway areas. A multi-scale U-shaped dehazing network is proposed in this research, which is based on our multi-channel feature fusion attention structure. With the help of the feature fusion attention techniques, the model can focus on the intriguing locations with higher haze concentration area. In conjunction with UNet, it can achieve multi-scale feature reuse and residual learning, allowing it to fully utilize the feature information of each layer for image restoration. Experimental resulsts show that our technique performs well on a variety of test datasets. On highway data sets, the PSNR / SSIM / L∞ error performance over the novel technique is increased by 0.52% / 0.5% / 30.84%, 4.68% / 0.78% / 26.19% and 13.84% / 9.05% / 55.57% respectively, when compared to DehazeFormer, MIRNetv2, and FSDGN methods. The findings suggest that our proposed method performs better on image dehazing, especially in terms of L∞ error performance.

Deep Convolutional Neural Network With a Multi-Scale Attention Feature Fusion Module for Segmentation of Multimodal Brain Tumor.

Project description:As a non-invasive, low-cost medical imaging technology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become an important tool for brain tumor diagnosis. Many scholars have carried out some related researches on MRI brain tumor segmentation based on deep convolutional neural networks, and have achieved good performance. However, due to the large spatial and structural variability of brain tumors and low image contrast, the segmentation of MRI brain tumors is challenging. Deep convolutional neural networks often lead to the loss of low-level details as the network structure deepens, and they cannot effectively utilize the multi-scale feature information. Therefore, a deep convolutional neural network with a multi-scale attention feature fusion module (MAFF-ResUNet) is proposed to address them. The MAFF-ResUNet consists of a U-Net with residual connections and a MAFF module. The combination of residual connections and skip connections fully retain low-level detailed information and improve the global feature extraction capability of the encoding block. Besides, the MAFF module selectively extracts useful information from the multi-scale hybrid feature map based on the attention mechanism to optimize the features of each layer and makes full use of the complementary feature information of different scales. The experimental results on the BraTs 2019 MRI dataset show that the MAFF-ResUNet can learn the edge structure of brain tumors better and achieve high accuracy.

FFA-DMRI: A Network Based on Feature Fusion and Attention Mechanism for Brain MRI Denoising

Project description:Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is an indispensable tool in the diagnosis of brain diseases due to painlessness and safety. Nevertheless, Rician noise is inevitably injected during the image acquisition process, which leads to poor observation and interferes with the treatment. Owing to the complexity of Rician noise, using the elimination method of Gaussian to remove it does not perform well. Therefore, the feature fusion and attention network (FFA-DMRI) is proposed to separate noise from observed MRI. Inspired by the attention-guided CNN network (ADNet) and Convolutional block attention module (CBAM), a spatial attention mechanism has been specially designed to obtain the area of interest in MRI. Furthermore, the feature fusion block concatenates local with global information, which makes full use of the multilevel structure and boosts the expressive ability of network. The comprehensive experiments on Alzheimer’s disease neuroimaging initiative dataset (ADNI) have demonstrated high effectiveness of FFA-DMRI with maintaining the crucial brain details. Moreover, in terms of visual inspections, the denoising results are also consistent with human perception.

MTAF-DTA: multi-type attention fusion network for drug-target affinity prediction.

Project description:BackgroundThe development of drug-target binding affinity (DTA) prediction tasks significantly drives the drug discovery process forward. Leveraging the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, DTA prediction tasks have undergone a transformative shift from wet lab experimentation to machine learning-based prediction. This transition enables a more expedient exploration of potential interactions between drugs and targets, leading to substantial savings in time and funding resources. However, existing methods still face several challenges, such as drug information loss, lack of calculation of the contribution of each modality, and lack of simulation regarding the drug-target binding mechanisms.ResultsWe propose MTAF-DTA, a method for drug-target binding affinity prediction to solve the above problems. The drug representation module extracts three modalities of features from drugs and uses an attention mechanism to update their respective contribution weights. Additionally, we design a Spiral-Attention Block (SAB) as drug-target feature fusion module based on multi-type attention mechanisms, facilitating a triple fusion process between them. The SAB, to some extent, simulates the interactions between drugs and targets, thereby enabling outstanding performance in the DTA task. Our regression task on the Davis and KIBA datasets demonstrates the predictive capability of MTAF-DTA, with CI and MSE metrics showing respective improvements of 1.1% and 9.2% over the state-of-the-art (SOTA) method in the novel target settings. Furthermore, downstream tasks further validate MTAF-DTA's superiority in DTA prediction.ConclusionsExperimental results and case study demonstrate the superior performance of our approach in DTA prediction tasks, showing its potential in practical applications such as drug discovery and disease treatment.

Semi-supervised nuclei segmentation based on multi-edge features fusion attention network.

Project description:The morphology of the nuclei represents most of the clinical pathological information, and nuclei segmentation is a vital step in current automated histopathological image analysis. Supervised machine learning-based segmentation models have already achieved outstanding performance with sufficiently precise human annotations. Nevertheless, outlining such labels on numerous nuclei is extremely professional needing and time consuming. Automatic nuclei segmentation with minimal manual interventions is highly needed to promote the effectiveness of clinical pathological researches. Semi-supervised learning greatly reduces the dependence on labeled samples while ensuring sufficient accuracy. In this paper, we propose a Multi-Edge Feature Fusion Attention Network (MEFFA-Net) with three feature inputs including image, pseudo-mask and edge, which enhances its learning ability by considering multiple features. Only a few labeled nuclei boundaries are used to train annotations on the remaining mostly unlabeled data. The MEFFA-Net creates more precise boundary masks for nucleus segmentation based on pseudo-masks, which greatly reduces the dependence on manual labeling. The MEFFA-Block focuses on the nuclei outline and selects features conducive to segment, making full use of the multiple features in segmentation. Experimental results on public multi-organ databases including MoNuSeg, CPM-17 and CoNSeP show that the proposed model has the mean IoU segmentation evaluations of 0.706, 0.751, and 0.722, respectively. The model also achieves better results than some cutting-edge methods while the labeling work is reduced to 1/8 of common supervised strategies. Our method provides a more efficient and accurate basis for nuclei segmentations and further quantifications in pathological researches.

Social media network public opinion emotion classification method based on multi-feature fusion and multi-scale hybrid neural network.

Project description:With the rapid development of the internet, an increasing number of users express their subjective opinions on social media platforms. By analyzing the sentiment of these texts, we can gain insights into public sentiment, industry changes, and market trends, enabling timely adjustments and preemptive strategies. This article initially constructs vectors using semantic fusion and word order features. Subsequently, it develops a lexicon vector based on word similarity and leverages supervised corpora training to obtain a more pronounced transfer weight vector of sentiment intensity. A multi-feature fused emotional word vector is ultimately formed by concatenating and fusing these weighted transfer vectors. Experimental comparisons on two multi-class microblog comment datasets demonstrate that the multi-feature fusion (WOOSD-CNN) word vector model achieves notable improvements in sentiment polarity accuracy and categorization effectiveness. Additionally, for aspect-level sentiment analysis of user generated content (UGC) text, a unified learning framework based on an information interaction channel is proposed, which enables the team productivity center (TPC) task. Specifically, an information interaction channel is designed to assist the model in leveraging the latent interactive characteristics of text. An in-depth analysis addresses the label drift phenomenon between aspect term words, and a position-aware module is constructed to mitigate the local development plan (LDP) issue.

A pan-sharpening network using multi-resolution transformer and two-stage feature fusion.

Project description:Pan-sharpening is a fundamental and crucial task in the remote sensing image processing field, which generates a high-resolution multi-spectral image by fusing a low-resolution multi-spectral image and a high-resolution panchromatic image. Recently, deep learning techniques have shown competitive results in pan-sharpening. However, diverse features in the multi-spectral and panchromatic images are not fully extracted and exploited in existing deep learning methods, which leads to information loss in the pan-sharpening process. To solve this problem, a novel pan-sharpening method based on multi-resolution transformer and two-stage feature fusion is proposed in this article. Specifically, a transformer-based multi-resolution feature extractor is designed to extract diverse image features. Then, to fully exploit features with different content and characteristics, a two-stage feature fusion strategy is adopted. In the first stage, a multi-resolution fusion module is proposed to fuse multi-spectral and panchromatic features at each scale. In the second stage, a shallow-deep fusion module is proposed to fuse shallow and deep features for detail generation. Experiments over QuickBird and WorldView-3 datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms current state-of-the-art approaches visually and quantitatively with fewer parameters. Moreover, the ablation study and feature map analysis also prove the effectiveness of the transformer-based multi-resolution feature extractor and the two-stage fusion scheme.

Alpha-SGANet: A multi-attention-scale feature pyramid network combined with lightweight network based on Alpha-IoU loss.

Project description:The design of deep convolutional neural networks has resulted in significant advances and successes in the field of object detection. However, despite these achievements, the high computational and memory costs of such object detection networks on the edge or in mobile scenarios are one of the most significant barriers to their broad adoption. To solve this problem, this paper introduces an improved lightweight real-time convolutional neural network based on YOLOv5, called Alpha-SGANet: A multi-attention-scale feature pyramid network combined with a lightweight network based on Alpha-IoU loss. Firstly, we add one more prediction head to detect different-scale objects, design a lightweight and efficient feature extraction network using ShuffleNetV2 in the backbone, and reduce information loss using the SPP module with a smaller convolutional nucleus. Then, cleverly, employ GAFPN to improve feature transition processing in the neck region, including the usage of the Ghost module to construct efficient feature maps to help prediction. The CBAM module was further integrated to find areas of interest in the scene; finally, combined with Alpha-IOU loss for model supervision training, the biggest performance improvement was achieved. The experiment results show that, compared with YOLOv5s, our proposed method can achieve higher accuracy with fewer parameters and has real-time speed through verification on the PASCAL VOC dataset and MS COCO dataset.

WBC-AMNet: Automatic classification of WBC images using deep feature fusion network based on focalized attention mechanism.

Project description:The recognition and classification of White Blood Cell (WBC) play a remarkable role in blood-related diseases (i.e., leukemia, infections) diagnosis. For the highly similar morphology of different WBC subtypes, it is too confused to classify the WBC effectively and accurately for visual observation of blood cell smears. This paper proposes a Deep Convolutional Neural Network (DCNN) with feature fusion strategies, named WBC-AMNet, for automatically classifying WBC subtypes based on focalized attention mechanism. To obtain more localized attention of CNN, the fusion features of the first and the last convolutional layer are extracted by focalized attention mechanism combining Squeeze-and-Excitation (SE) and Gather-Excite (GE) modules. The new method performs successfully in classifying monocytes, neutrophils, lymphocytes, and eosinophils on the complex background with an overall accuracy of 95.66%, better than that of general CNNs. The multi-classification accuracy of WBC-AMNet with the background segmentation is over 98% in all cases. In addition, Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping (Grad-CAM) is employed to visualize the attention heatmaps of different feature maps.

RSG-YOLOV8: Detection of rice seed germination rate based on enhanced YOLOv8 and multi-scale attention feature fusion.

Project description:The lack of obvious difference between germinated seeds and non-germinated seeds will cause the low accuracy of detecting rice seed germination rate, remains a challenging issue in the field. In view of this, a new model named Rice Seed Germination-YOLOV8 (RSG-YOLOV8) is proposed in this paper. This model initially incorporates CSPDenseNet to streamline computational processes while preserving accuracy. Furthermore, the BRA, a dynamic and sparse attention mechanism is integrated to highlight critical features while minimizing redundancy. The third advancement is the employment of a structured feature fusion network, based on GFPN, aiming to reconfigure the original Neck component of YOLOv8, thus enabling efficient feature fusion across varying levels. An additional detection head is introduced, improving detection performance through the integration of variable anchor box scales and the optimization of regression losses. This paper also explores the influence of various attention mechanisms, feature fusion techniques, and detection head architectures on the precision of rice seed germination rate detection. Experimental results indicate that RSG-YOLOV8 achieves a mAP50 of 0.981, marking a 4% enhancement over the mAP50 of YOLOv8 and setting a new benchmark on the RiceSeedGermination dataset for the detection of rice seed germination rate.

RecGOBD: accurate recognition of gene ontology related brain development protein functions through multi-feature fusion and attention mechanisms.

Project description:MotivationProtein function prediction is crucial in bioinformatics, driven by the growth of protein sequence data from high-throughput technologies. Traditional methods are costly and slow, underscoring the need for computational solutions. While deep learning offers powerful tools, many models lack optimization for brain development datasets, critical for neurodevelopmental disorder research. To address this, we developed RecGOBD (Recognition of Gene Ontology-related Brain Development protein function), a model tailored to predict protein functions essential to brain development.ResultRecGOBD targets 10 key gene ontology (GO) terms for brain development, embedding protein sequences associated with these terms. Leveraging advanced pre-trained models, it captures both sequence and structure data, aligning them with GO terms through attention mechanisms. The category attention layer enhances prediction accuracy. RecGOBD surpassed five benchmark models in AUROC, AUPR, and Fmax metrics and was further used to predict autism-related protein functions and assess mutation impacts on GO terms. These findings highlight RecGOBD's potential in advancing protein function prediction for neurodevelopmental disorders.Availability and implementationAll Python codes associated with this study are available at https://github.com/ZL-Xia/RECGOBD.git.
