Mulberry is an economically important plant in the sericulture industry and traditional medicine. However, the genetic and evolutionary history of mulberry remains largely unknown. Here, this work presents the chromosome-level genome assembly of Morus atropurpurea (M. atropurpurea), originating from south China.
