The introgression of antiviral strains of <i>Wolbachia</i> into <i>Aedes aegypti</i> mosquito populations is a public health intervention for the control of dengue. Plausibly, dengue virus (DENV) could evolve to bypass the antiviral effects of <i>Wolbachia</i> and undermine this approach.
