Variants in the gene myosin-binding protein C3 (<i>MYBPC3</i>) account for approximately 50% of familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), leading to reduced levels of myosin-binding protein C3 (MyBP-C), the protein product made by gene <i>MYBPC3</i>.
