Dataset Information

Diabetes Mellitus Is a Possible Risk Factor for the Development of Trochanteric Bursitis-A Large-Scale Population-Based Study.

ABSTRACT:

Background

Trochanteric Bursitis (TB) is a common reason to seek primary care, previously shown to be associated with female gender and obesity. Diabetes mellitus (DM) has several musculoskeletal manifestations, but was never found to be associated with TB.

Purpose

To explore the association between DM and TB, based on a large database. The secondary aim was to explore the influence of gender and insulin usage on the occurrence of TB.

Study design

cross-sectional study.

Methods

A population-based cohort consisting of 60,610 patients (55,428 without DM and 5182 with DM), of whom 5418 were diagnosed with TB. A logistic regression model was applied to estimate propensity scores.

Results

The odds of individuals with DM being diagnosed with TB were 55.8% high
