Project description:BackgroundVisceral pain is a complex and heterogeneous disorder that is considered more prominent compared to somatic pain, due to its multiple and complex causes and accompanying emotional and mood disorders. Research has become increasingly extensive over the years, but a bibliometric analysis of this field is lacking. The aim of this study was to analyze global research trends in visceral pain over the past 40 years through visual analysis.MethodsWe conducted a comprehensive search of the literature from January 1981 to December 2021 using the Web of Science core database. The medical subject term 'visceral pain' was searched. We used CiteSpace and VOSviewer for bibliometric analysis and network visualization, including top-ranked authors, keywords, research collaborations, and literature co-occurrence network analysis.ResultsA total of 5,047 articles were included in the analysis. The number of articles on visceral pain has continued to grow steadily over the past 40 years. The United States (1,716 articles), University of California (159 articles), and Neurogastroenterology and Motility (276 articles) were the country, institution, and journal with the most publications, respectively. Keyword analysis showed that inflammation, visceral hypersensitivity, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), anxiety, and quality of life were the research trends and priorities in this research field.ConclusionVisceral pain-related research has received increasing attention in recent decades. However, there are still many unresolved issues in the field of visceral pain, such as the specific molecular mechanisms and clinical treatments between visceral pain and inflammation, IBD, IBS, anxiety, and quality of life, which may require further exploration based on modern scientific and technological means and more basic research, especially for the therapeutic targets of visceral pain, which may become a hot spot for future research and provide guidance for the treatment of clinical diseases related to visceral pain.

Project description:ObjectiveTo explore the development context, research hotspots and frontiers of Transcription factor EB (TFEB) from 1991 to 2021 by bibliometric analysis.MethodsPublications about TFEB research from 1991 to 2021 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Excel 2007 was used to collect basic information, including publications, research areas. VOSviewer 1.6.17 was used to analyze co-authorship of countries, institutes and authors. Co-citation of cited authors, cited references were analyzed by CiteSpace V.5.8.R3. In addition, CiteSpace was used to analyze keywords cluster and forecast research frontiers.ResultsA total of 1,059 literatures were retrieved, including 1,340 research institutes and 393 academic journals. The main area of research related to TFEB is biology (340), the most published country and institutes were the United States (487) and Baylor College of Medicine (70). Settembre C owned the highest co-citations (663). Trending keywords may indicate frontier topics, including "Alzheimer's disease," "Parkinson's disease," "(p21; q12)," "melanoma," "pancreatic cancer," "breast cancer," "calcineurin," "TFE3," "trehalose," and "curcumin."ConclusionThis research provides valuable information for the study of TFEB. Disease research focuses more on neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) and tumors. Trehalose and curcumin are novel agents acting on TFEB. Rap-TRPML1-Calcineurin-TFEB and TFE3 are increasing signal pathway researches, similarly, the molecular biological mechanism of TFEB needs further exploration.

Project description:BackgroundParonychia is a prevalent clinical disease profoundly affecting patients' quality of life. As ongoing evolution in modern living environments, factors contributing to paronychia are becoming increasingly diverse. Therefore, a further understanding about latest trend of paronychia is imperative and pressing.MethodsA systematic literature search was performed based on Web of Science Core Collection and Science Citation Index Expanded. The search parameters encompassed keywords associated with paronychia from 1980 to 2023, and rigorous data cleaning procedures were executed to maintain the analysis's relevance and dependability, supplemented by a thorough examination of abstracts and titles. Visibility analysis was conducted with Citespace and VOSviewer tools to explore the publication trends, collaborative networks, and impactful studies.ResultsA total of 595 articles were included in this study. The annual publication trends exhibited a significant increase since 1990, reached a peak of 41 articles in 2021. Collaborative relationships among countries demonstrated strong connections, with the United States leading in both publication volume, citation records and international cooperation. Keyword analysis indicated that in recent years, a substantial body of research has concentrated on paronychia issues caused by epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRI)-class drugs, such as Gefitinib, Erlotinib, and Afatinib, in the context of tumor treatment.ConclusionIn this area, most of the recent hotspots are not focused on the basic research about paronychia due to the basic research about traditional paronychia already reached a relative mature stage. However, with the widespread clinical application of EGFRI anticancer drugs, the incidence of drug-induced paronychia is inevitably on the rise. Therefore, with the expanding diversity in the etiology of paronychia, this area deserves a multiple discipline cooperation with a much wider international communication.

Project description:IntroductionIn the past 22 years, a large number of publications have reported that liver kinase B1 (LKB1) can regulate a variety of cellular processes and play an important role in many diseases. However, there is no systematic bibliometric analysis on the publications of LKB1 to reveal the research hotspots and future direction.MethodsPublications were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), Scopus, and PubMed databases. CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to analysis the top countries, institutions, authors, source journals, discipline categories, references, and keywords.ResultsIn the past 22 years, the number of LKB1 publications has increased gradually by year. The country, institution, author, journals that have published the most articles and cited the most frequently were the United States, Harvard University, Prof. Benoit Viollet, Journal of Biochemistry and Plos One. The focused research hotspot was the molecular functions of LKB1. The emerging hotspots and future trends are the clinical studies about LKB1 and co-mutated genes as biomarkers in tumors, especially in lung adenocarcinoma.ConclusionsOur research could provide knowledge base, frontiers, emerging hotspots and future trends associated with LKB1 for researchers in this field, and contribute to finding potential cooperation possibilities.

Project description:BackgroundThe recent surge in clinical and nonclinical health-related data has been accompanied by a concomitant increase in personal health data (PHD) research across multiple disciplines such as medicine, computer science, and management. There is now a need to synthesize the dynamic knowledge of PHD in various disciplines to spot potential research hotspots.ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to reveal the knowledge evolutionary trends in PHD and detect potential research hotspots using bibliometric analysis.MethodsWe collected 8281 articles published between 2009 and 2018 from the Web of Science database. The knowledge evolution analysis (KEA) framework was used to analyze the evolution of PHD research. The KEA framework is a bibliometric approach that is based on 3 knowledge networks: reference co-citation, keyword co-occurrence, and discipline co-occurrence.ResultsThe findings show that the focus of PHD research has evolved from medicine centric to technology centric to human centric since 2009. The most active PHD knowledge cluster is developing knowledge resources and allocating scarce resources. The field of computer science, especially the topic of artificial intelligence (AI), has been the focal point of recent empirical studies on PHD. Topics related to psychology and human factors (eg, attitude, satisfaction, education) are also receiving more attention.ConclusionsOur analysis shows that PHD research has the potential to provide value-based health care in the future. All stakeholders should be educated about AI technology to promote value generation through PHD. Moreover, technology developers and health care institutions should consider human factors to facilitate the effective adoption of PHD-related technology. These findings indicate opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation in several PHD research areas: (1) AI applications for PHD; (2) regulatory issues and governance of PHD; (3) education of all stakeholders about AI technology; and (4) value-based health care including "allocative value," "technology value," and "personalized value."

Project description:Background: Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is a major complication of stroke that affects more than one-third of stroke survivors, threatening their quality of life and increasing the risk of disability and death. Although various studies have described the etiology, epidemiology, and risk factors of PSCI, there are a limited number of comprehensive and accurate reports on research trends and hotspots in this field. Therefore, this review aimed to evaluate research trends, hotspots, and frontiers in PSCI using bibliometric analysis. Methods: We screened the literature spanning 20 years in the Web of Science Core Collection: Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-Expanded) database from 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2022. We included all eligible literature reports based on our comprehensive search strategy, inclusion criteria, and exclusion criteria. The analysis of annual publications, countries/regions, institutions, journals, co-cited references, and keywords was conducted using CiteSpace and VOSviewer, and the hotspots and major findings of PSCI were summarized. Results: A total of 1,024 publications were included in this review. We found that the number of publications on PSCI increased annually. These publications were published in 75 countries or regions by over 400 institutions. Although Chinese institutions had the highest number of publications, their international influence was limited. The United States showed a strong influence in the field. The journal "Stroke" published the most publications (57) with a high impact factor and was considered the most co-cited journal. The most frequently cited references focused on the prevalence, incidence, neuropsychological assessment scales, criteria, and guidelines of PSCI. The strongest citation burst keywords for PSCI were "neurotrophic factor" and "synaptic plasticity", which were regarded as research focuses and research hotspots, respectively. Conclusion: This review provided a comprehensive summary of the literature of PSCI, identified the authoritative and frequently cited literature and journals, clarified the trends in PSCI research, and highlighted the hotspots in this field. Currently, studies on the mechanisms and treatment of PSCI are limited, and we hope that this review has effectively highlighted the research trajectory of PSCI and will lay the foundation for more innovative research in the future.

Project description:Immunotherapy is a promising strategy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), a common and aggressive malignancy with poor prognosis. However, the literature lacks a comprehensive and objective overview of the current research status and trends of immunotherapy-related fields in NPC. We performed a bibliometric analysis of 513 original articles and reviews in English on immunotherapy for NPC from the Web of Science Core Collection database, using CiteSpace and Bibliometrix software tools. We visualized the development trend of publications, the distribution of countries/regions, the co-occurrence of keywords, the collaboration and citation of authors, the citation of journals, the evolution of topics, and the thematic map. We found that the publication volume increased sharply after 2017, with China as the main contributor and leader, the US as an important partner, and the Netherlands as a potential innovator. The research focused on immune checkpoint inhibitors and cell therapy, which were also the hotspots of clinical trials. Tumor microenvironment, immune infiltration, multicenter studies, and novel immunotherapy were the frontier topics and the key challenges for future research. CD137l-DC, lymphoma, and chimeric antigen receptor were emerging topics with good prospects. Our study provides a valuable insight into the research status and trends of immunotherapy for NPC, which may guide future research directions and clinical applications.

Project description:BackgroundStomach cancer is considered the fifth most common cancer worldwide. This study utilized bibliometric analysis to construct a visualization map of the relationship between stomach cancer and exosomes, aiming to reveal research trends and emerging themes, and provide direction for future research.MethodRetrieve relevant literature on gastric cancer exosomes in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) over the past 25 years according to search criteria, and conduct bibliometric and visualization analysis using bibliometric software VOSviewer and CiteSpace.ResultsThis study included a total of 727 articles, with an overall increasing trend in annual publication output. There were 68 countries involved, with China having the largest number of publications followed by the United States. A total of 957 research institutions were involved, with most of the top 10 institutions in terms of publication output being universities in China. The top 5 journals are Molecular Cancer, Cell death & disease, Cancers, International journal of molecular sciences, and Frontiers in oncology. A total of 4529 authors were involved, with 5 authors having a publication output of no less than 13 articles. A total of 35516 references were cited, with a total number of citations. The top publication is "Exosome-mediated transfer of mRNAs and microRNAs is a novel mechanism of genetic exchange between cells".ConclusionOver the past 25 years, researchers have been dedicated to studying the field of exosomes related to gastric cancer, and research in this area is currently progressing steadily. Based on previous studies, exosomes in gastric adenocarcinoma serve as biomarkers, potential therapeutic targets, and post-resistance treatment, which represents current hotspots and emerging frontiers in research.

Project description:BackgroundProstate cancer is viewed as the second most common cancer in men worldwide. In our study, we used bibliometric analysis to construct a visual map of the relationship between prostate cancer and exosomes with the intent of uncovering research trends and current hotspots in this field.MethodWe searched the Web of Science Core Collection for all publications in the prostate cancer associated with exosome field came out since 2010. With the assistance of bibliometric analysis software such as VOSviewer and CiteSpace, we conducted data extraction and analysis for countries/regions, institutions, authors, journals, references and keywords.ResultsA bibliometric analysis of 990 publications was performed. Since 2010, the published quantity and cited frequency of the prostate cancer-associated exosome field have revealed an increasing tendency. In this field, we visualized the research trends by the means of analyzing the references and keywords. We obtained the statistical data: the total citations of publications have increased to 55,462, the average citation per article has reached 55.3 times, and the H-index has amounted to 110. Our findings supported that USA, China and Italy rank the top countries with both the maximum publications and strongest cooperations. Harvard Medical School, Cedars Sinai Med Ctr, Johns Hopkins University, are top institutions in the center of research as they are held to be. Thery C, Skog J and Taylor DD are the leading and outstanding professors and researchers. And top journals like Prostate, Plos One and Journal of Extracellular Vesicle expressed keen interests in this field. Based on our analysis and research, we believe that this field is attracting more and more attention and will focus on tumor bone metastasis, drug delivery, and tumor suppressor.ConclusionIn the past 12 years, researchers have dedicated their efforts to prostate cancer associated exosome. On the basis of previous studies, scientists are showing increasingly solicitude for the role of exosome in prostate cancer progression and potential therapy such as drug delivery.

Project description:ObjectiveTo discuss the hotspots and future trends of autophagy in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and provide a reference for researchers in this field.MethodUsing visual analysis tools, metrological statistics and visual research on the pertinent literature in the area of autophagy use in TCM were undertaken in the core collection database of the Web of Science. By examining the authors, keywords, research circumstances, research hotspots, and trends of linked research, the use of autophagy in TCM was investigated.Results and conclusionsA total of 916 studies were included, among which Beijing University Chinese Medicine was the largest number of advantageous research institutions, followed by Shanghai University Traditional Chinese Medicine and Guangzhou University Chinese Medicine.The keywords of literature research primarily comprise apoptosis, activation, inhibition, pathway, mechanism, oxidative stress, proliferation, NF-κB, cancer, mtor, etc. At present, the research on autophagy in the field of TCM is increasing on a year-to-year basis. The research has focused on the role played by TCM in malignant tumors, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease through autophagy, and the regulation of autophagy signaling pathways (e.g., PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, TLR4 signaling pathway,nrf2 signaling pathway and NF-κB signaling pathway). In the future, the therapeutic effect of TCM on chemotherapy-resistant tumor cells through autophagy pathway, the role of TCM mediating mitophagy and activating autophagy function, and the therapeutic effect of TCM components represented by luteolin on tumors, asthma, myocardial injury and other diseases through autophagy mechanism will be the research hotspots in the future.
