Synaptic complexes of α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) receptors (AMPARs) with auxiliary subunits mediate most excitatory neurotransmission and can be targeted to treat neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders, including epilepsy.
