Correcting spelling mistakes in Persian texts with rules and deep learning methods.

ABSTRACT: This study aims to develop a system for automatically correcting spelling errors in Persian texts using two approaches: one that relies on rules and a common spelling mistake list and another that uses a deep neural network. The list of 700 common misspellings was compiled, and a database of 55,000 common Persian words was used to identify spelling errors in the rule-based approach. 112 rules were implemented for spelling correction, each providing suggested words for misspelled words. 2500 sentences were used for evaluation, with the word with the shortest Levenshtein distance selected for evaluation. In the deep learning approach, a deep encoder-decoder network that utilized long short-term memory (LSTM) with a word embedding layer was used as the base network, with FastText chosen as the word embedding layer. The base network was enhanced by adding convolutional and capsule layers. A database of 1.2 million sentences was created, with 800,000 for training, 200,000 for testing, and 200,000 for evaluation. The results showed that the network's performance with capsule and convolutional layers was similar to that of the base network. The network performed well in evaluation, achieving accuracy, precision, recall, F-measure, and bilingual evaluation understudy (Bleu) scores of 87%, 70%, 89%, 78%, and 84%, respectively.

Project description:BackgroundTechnological advances have enabled the generation of unique and complementary types of data or views (e.g. genomics, proteomics, metabolomics) and opened up a new era in multiview learning research with the potential to lead to new biomedical discoveries.ResultsWe propose iDeepViewLearn (Interpretable Deep Learning Method for Multiview Learning) to learn nonlinear relationships in data from multiple views while achieving feature selection. iDeepViewLearn combines deep learning flexibility with the statistical benefits of data and knowledge-driven feature selection, giving interpretable results. Deep neural networks are used to learn view-independent low-dimensional embedding through an optimization problem that minimizes the difference between observed and reconstructed data, while imposing a regularization penalty on the reconstructed data. The normalized Laplacian of a graph is used to model bilateral relationships between variables in each view, therefore, encouraging selection of related variables. iDeepViewLearn is tested on simulated and three real-world data for classification, clustering, and reconstruction tasks. For the classification tasks, iDeepViewLearn had competitive classification results with state-of-the-art methods in various settings. For the clustering task, we detected molecular clusters that differed in their 10-year survival rates for breast cancer. For the reconstruction task, we were able to reconstruct handwritten images using a few pixels while achieving competitive classification accuracy. The results of our real data application and simulations with small to moderate sample sizes suggest that iDeepViewLearn may be a useful method for small-sample-size problems compared to other deep learning methods for multiview learning.ConclusioniDeepViewLearn is an innovative deep learning model capable of capturing nonlinear relationships between data from multiple views while achieving feature selection. Project description:Collective, coordinated cellular motions underpin key processes in all multicellular organisms, yet it has been difficult to simultaneously express the 'rules' behind these motions in clear, interpretable forms that effectively capture high-dimensional cell-cell interaction dynamics in a manner that is intuitive to the researcher. Here we apply deep attention networks to analyze several canonical living tissues systems and present the underlying collective migration rules for each tissue type using only cell migration trajectory data. We use these networks to learn the behaviors of key tissue types with distinct collective behaviors-epithelial, endothelial, and metastatic breast cancer cells-and show how the results complement traditional biophysical approaches. In particular, we present attention maps indicating the relative influence of neighboring cells to the learned turning decisions of a 'focal cell'-the primary cell of interest in a collective setting. Colloquially, we refer to this learned relative influence as 'attention', as it serves as a proxy for the physical parameters modifying the focal cell's future motion as a function of each neighbor cell. These attention networks reveal distinct patterns of influence and attention unique to each model tissue. Endothelial cells exhibit tightly focused attention on their immediate forward-most neighbors, while cells in more expansile epithelial tissues are more broadly influenced by neighbors in a relatively large forward sector. Attention maps of ensembles of more mesenchymal, metastatic cells reveal completely symmetric attention patterns, indicating the lack of any particular coordination or direction of interest. Moreover, we show how attention networks are capable of detecting and learning how these rules change based on biophysical context, such as location within the tissue and cellular crowding. That these results require only cellular trajectories and no modeling assumptions highlights the potential of attention networks for providing further biological insights into complex cellular systems.
