Sodium-dependent glucose transporters (SGLTs) couple a downhill Na<sup>+</sup> ion gradient to actively transport sugars. Here, we investigate the impact of the membrane potential on vSGLT structure and function using sugar uptake assays, double electron-electron resonance (DEER), electrostatic calculations, and kinetic modeling.
