ABSTRACT: Background
Statins are a class of drugs that lower cholesterol levels in the blood by inhibiting an enzyme called 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. High cholesterol levels can lead to plaque buildup in the arteries, which can cause Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease(ASCVD). Statins can reduce the risk of ASCVD events by about 25-35% but they might be associated with symptoms such as muscle pain, liver damage, or diabetes. As a result, this leads to a strong reason to discontinue statin therapy, which increases the risk of cardiovascular events and mortality and becomes a public-health problem. To solve this problem, in the previous work, we proposed a framework to produce a proactive strategy, called a personalized statin treatment plan (PSTP) to minimi
