Project description:The application of blockchain can effectively improve the efficiency of fresh agricultural product circulation and consumer trust, but it can also increase investment costs. In this context, this paper introduces parameters such as blockchain unit variable cost, the level of blockchain technology investment, and consumer channel preference in two dual-channel supply chain systems dominated by fresh agricultural product manufacturers: online direct sales and distribution. It compares and analyzes pricing and channel selection strategies in both cases of not using and using blockchain. The research shows that when blockchain is used, manufacturer profits are higher in the direct sales model than in the distribution model. Traditional retailers' profits are lower in the direct sales model than in the distribution model. Total supply chain profits are higher in the direct sales model than in the distribution model, and they exhibit an inverted "U" shape as the level of blockchain investment increases. In the online direct sales model, if the blockchain technology unit variable cost is within a certain threshold range, manufacturer profits, traditional retailer profits, and total supply chain profits are all higher than when blockchain technology is not used. In the online distribution model, when the blockchain variable cost and blockchain usage level meet certain conditions, manufacturers, traditional retailers, and online distributors all have higher profits when using blockchain technology than when not using it. This study provides theoretical guidance for the practical application of blockchain technology in dual-channel fresh agricultural product supply chains.

Project description:In order to delve into the dynamic evolution process and influencing factors of information sharing decisions among stakeholders under supply chain collaboration, this study constructs an evolutionary game model with suppliers and retailers as the primary entities. Within this model, a combined approach of game theory and prospect theory is employed, integrating prospect value functions and weight functions to create an information sharing prospect value matrix. A comprehensive analysis is conducted on the strategic choices and benefits of entities considering the psychological perception of information sharing, and critical factors influencing the stability of information sharing evolution results are explored through numerical simulations using Matlab. The key findings of this study are as follows: Firstly, from the perspective of supply chain collaboration, the probability of entities evolving into information sharing is negatively correlated with the cost of information sharing and positively correlated with the benefits generated by information coordination. Secondly, looking at supply chain collaboration, entities are more likely to engage in information sharing behavior when they exhibit a lower level of risk aversion, indicating greater rationality, when facing profits; conversely, they are more likely to participate in information sharing when they display a higher degree of risk preference, indicating less rationality, in the face of losses. Furthermore, the lesser sensitivity of suppliers and retailers to losses is more likely to drive the system towards an information-sharing state. Based on the primary findings mentioned above, this study offers recommendations for enhancing trust, constructing information exchange platforms, and adjusting psychological awareness. These suggestions contribute to improving information sharing among entities within the supply chain, thus enhancing the overall efficiency and collaboration of the supply chain.

Project description:Considering the carbon emissions caused by the fresh-keeping of fresh agricultural products, this paper studied the rules of fresh-keeping decision-making in the two-echelon fresh agricultural product supply chain led by suppliers under the carbon cap-and-trade policy. In addition, we designed two contracts, cost-sharing contract and two-part pricing contract, to coordinate the supplier's fresh-keeping decision and the supply chain's revenue. The results show that: whether the carbon cap-and-trade policy is implemented or not, the higher the consumer's preference for freshness and the lower the price sensitivity coefficient of consumers, the more favorable it is for suppliers to improve their fresh-keeping efforts. Under the implementation of carbon cap-and-trade policy, suppliers' fresh-keeping efforts are only related to the carbon transaction price, not the carbon cap; the higher the carbon transaction price, the less the supplier's fresh-keeping efforts, but the more the supplier's income; the smaller the cost coefficient of carbon emission reduction and the larger the coefficient of carbon emission reduction, the more favorable it is for suppliers to increase their fresh-keeping efforts; both cost-sharing contract and two-part pricing contract can coordinate the supply chain of fresh agricultural products, but they have different application scope and coordination effect. These conclusions are of great significance to the operation and management of fresh agricultural products suppliers, the improvement of consumers' quality of life and the protection of ecological environment under carbon cap-and-trade.

Project description:Guarantee the initial information of the agri-food supply chain (AFSC) authenticity based on the blockchain is a complex problem. This paper develops an evolutionary game model of AFSC participants based on the blockchain and discusses the impacts of the key parameters on the dynamic evolution process of participants. To verify the theoretical results, simulation experiments and sensitivity analysis were conducted through Matlab 2022b. The study results show that: (1) Guaranteeing the initial information authenticity could become the common belief of all AFSC participants, with the scientific design of parameters; (2) Higher reward and synergistic effect, lower information cost and risk contribute to improving the probability of initial true information sharing. (3) when the default penalty is too severe, the enterprise will evolve into not sharing the initial true information. Finally, this study could provide some suggestions and countermeasures for the leading enterprise in the agricultural supply chain and local governments to guarantee initial information authenticity in China. That is the way to realize the sustainability of AFSC in the long run.

Project description:This study aims to empirically investigate the effect of blockchain technology (BCT) adoption on supply chain resilience (SCR), with the mediating role of supply chain integration (SCI) and the crucial effect of environmental dynamism (ED) as a moderator. Based on data collected from firms operating in the automotive industry in India, the proposed model was tested using Partial Least Squares Structural Equations Modelling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS software. The empirical results showed a positive effect of BCT on SCI, which in turn affects SCR. Importantly, SCI acts as a full mediator in the BCT-SCR relationship, which is moderated by ED, that is, the effect of BCT on SCR via SCI is strong when ED is high. This study offers the groundwork for operationalizing BCT in a supply chain context. It also contributes to SCR research by investigating how SCI mediates the effect of BCT on SCR. In addition, this study found a moderating effect of ED on the relationship between BCT and SCI. These results provide insights to auto manufacturers on ways to enhance SCR and ensure safe supply chain operations.

Project description:This paper aims to investigate the impact of blockchain application on trust levels in supply chains. Through the systematic review of the relevant literature, three dimensions of trust, i.e., the trustor-trustee perspective, forms of trust, and time orientation, are investigated. Our findings show that, first, there are three pairs of trustors and trustees involved in blockchain implementation: (a) the user and the blockchain, (b) two supply chain partners, and (c) the consumer/public and a supply chain unit. Second, the two forms of trust, namely cognition-based and institution-based trust, are likely to be enhanced by blockchain execution, while affect-based trust may not be directly impacted by the technology. Third, the presence of blockchain technology would facilitate swift trust-building between unknown supply chain partners under specific circumstances. Moreover, we also find contradicting assertions among scholars on the implications of blockchain for trust in supply chains. While some studies pointed out that blockchain will enable a trustless trusted scheme, others expected the reinforcement of interorganizational trust. To test these assertions, we develop the blockchain-entrusted supply chain models to present the three-step process of how trust is developed through the blockchain and diffused to supply chain partners and external stakeholders.Supplementary informationThe online version contains supplementary material available at 10.1007/s10479-022-04868-0.

Project description:In order to investigate the strategy choice of each player in capacity sharing, the article constructs a tripartite game model based on capacity provider-capacity demander-government, introduces the prospect theory and conducts numerical simulation analysis using MATLAB. The results show that capacity sharing in the manufacturing industry is related to three parties: capacity providers, capacity demanders and the government, and their strategies in the game process influence each other; the sensitivity of capacity providers and capacity demanders is higher than that of the government; the increase of risk-return coefficient and loss-avoidance coefficient is conducive to the evolution of subjects to the ideal state.

Project description:The increasing number of rice product safety issues and the potential for contamination have established an enormous need for an effective strategy for the traceability of the rice supply chain. Tracing the origins of a rice product from raw materials to end customers is very complex and costly. Existing food supply chain methods (for example, rice) do not provide a scalable and cost-effective means of agricultural food supply. Besides, consumers lack the capability and resources required to check or report on the quality of agricultural goods in terms of defects or contamination. Consequently, customers are forced to decide whether to utilize or discard the goods. However, blockchain is an innovative framework capable of offering a transformative solution for the traceability of agricultural products and food supply chains. The aim of this paper is to propose a framework capable of tracking and monitoring all interactions and transactions between all stakeholders in the rice chain ecosystem through smart contracts. The model incorporates a system for customer satisfaction feedback, which enables all stakeholders to get up-to-date information on product quality, enabling them to make more informed supply chain decisions. Each transaction is documented and stored in the public ledger of the blockchain. The proposed framework provides a safe, efficient, reliable, and effective way to monitor and track rice products safety and quality especially during product purchasing. The security and performance analysis results shows that the proposed framework outperform the benchmark techniques in terms of cost-effectiveness, security and scalability with low computational overhead.

Project description:Uncertainty in real-world situations disrupts operations, including the collection process in closed-loop supply chains (CLSCs). A collection disruption is more critical in the pharmaceutical sector since pharmaceutical leftovers contain chemicals that threaten the environment and human health. This paper revolves around the challenges of a real pharmaceutical case that implements circular economy principles through a closed-loop system design, takes sustainability issues into account, and seeks for effective management of collection disruption. The case includes a manufacturer, who invests in green research and development (R&D), and two retailers competing on corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to boost the collection amount and market demand. This competitive environment raises conflict of interests and complicates the interactions between members, which need to be neutralized by an appropriate coordination plan. This paper proposes an analytical scenario-based coordination model that resolves channel conflicts and pays dividends to the involving members through augmenting their social, economic, and environmental performance. We show that the coordination plan could be a practical policy to increase the system's adaptability to disruption. Under the coordinated model, by increasing a retailer's collection disruption, the other one invests more in CSR efforts to compensate for its competitor's lower collection, preventing loss for the whole channel. We also demonstrate that the proposed model maintains the chain's balance and prevents loss in case of a highly competitive CSR-based collection and boosts the collection amount, market demand, and the whole chain's profitability simultaneously.

Project description:The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), leading to disruptions in supply chains, financial losses, and closures. To overcome these challenges, organizations, including those in developing economies like Malaysia, are turning to blockchain technology as a solution to enhance traditional supply chain management frameworks. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the acceptance of blockchain technology among SMEs. By drawing on established adoption theories such as the technology acceptance model (TAM), diffusion of innovation (DOI) theory, and theory of planned behavior (TPB), the researchers developed a research framework. They utilized partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the causal relationships between different constructs and test their hypotheses. The findings confirmed that the constructs of the technology acceptance model, specifically perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and attitude were significantly associated with the intention to use blockchain technology. Additionally, the constructs of the diffusion of innovation theory, relative advantage and compatibility, showed significant associations with perceived ease of use, while complexity had a negligible relationship with perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The construct of subjective norms from the theory of planned behavior exhibited a significant relationship with perceived usefulness and an insignificant relationship with intention to use. Finally, perceived behavioral control demonstrated a positive relationship with intention to use. The study's findings provide valuable insights for blockchain developers and organizations aiming to make informed decisions regarding the application of blockchain technology as a process innovation in SMEs.
