The type II exponentiated half logistic-odd Burr X-G power series class of distributions with applications.

ABSTRACT: A new distribution, the type II exponentiated half logistic-odd Burr X-G power series (TII-EHL-OBX-GPS), is introduced in this study. This distribution combines the type II exponentiated half logistic-odd Burr X-G family of distributions with power series distributions. We discuss its mathematical characteristics, maximum likelihood estimates and simulation experiments, along with practical applications in the type II exponentiated half logistic-odd Burr X-log-logistic Poisson distribution.

Project description:In this paper, we introduce the exponentiated power generalized Weibull power series (EPGWPS) family of distributions, obtained by compounding the exponentiated power generalized Weibull and power series distributions. By construction, the new family contains a myriad of new flexible lifetime distributions having strong physical interpretations (lifetime system, biological studies…). We discuss the characteristics and properties of the EPGWPS family, including its probability density and hazard rate functions, quantiles, moments, incomplete moments, skewness and kurtosis. The main vocation of the EPGWPS family remains to be applied in a statistical setting, and data analysis in particular. In this regard, we explore the estimation of the model parameters by the maximum likelihood method, with accuracy supported by a detailed simulation study. Then, we apply it to two practical data sets, showing the applicability and competitiveness of the EPGWPS models in comparison to some other well-reputed models.

Type II exponentiated half-logistic Topp-Leone Marshall-Olkin-G family of distributions with applications.

Project description:The aim of this paper is to generalize and study a new family of lifetime distributions in order to gain flexibility. The new generalized distribution is named as type II exponentiated half-logistic Topp-Leone-Marshall-Olkin-G (TIIEHL-TL-MO-G) family of distributions. Several mathematical properties of the new model have been derived including, moments and generating function, distribution of the order statistics and Rényi entropy. The performance of the maximum likelihood estimates is evaluated via a simulation study. Lastly, we apply the generated family to three real data to illustrate the potentiality of this new generalized family of distributions.

The Burr III-Topp-Leone-G family of distributions with applications.

Project description:In this article, we present a new family of generalized distributions called the Burr III-Topp-Leone-G (BIII-TL-G). We further study in detail its structural properties including moments, probability weighted moments, distribution of order statistics, and entropy. The maximum likelihood estimation method is used to estimate the model parameters. Simulations are carried out to show the consistency and efficiency of parameter estimates and finally, real data sets are used to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model.

Alpha-Power Exponentiated Inverse Rayleigh distribution and its applications to real and simulated data.

Project description:The main goal of the current paper is to contribute to the existing literature of probability distributions. In this paper, a new probability distribution is generated by using the Alpha Power Family of distributions with the aim to model the data with non-monotonic failure rates and provides a better fit. The proposed distribution is called Alpha Power Exponentiated Inverse Rayleigh or in short APEIR distribution. Various statistical properties have been investigated including they are the order statistics, moments, residual life function, mean waiting time, quantiles, entropy, and stress-strength parameter. To estimate the parameters of the proposed distribution, the maximum likelihood method is employed. It has been proved theoretically that the proposed distribution provides a better fit to the data with monotonic as well as non-monotonic hazard rate shapes. Moreover, two real data sets are used to evaluate the significance and flexibility of the proposed distribution as compared to other probability distributions.

The Exponentiated Exponential Burr XII distribution: Theory and application to lifetime and simulated data.

Project description:The paper addresses a new four-parameter probability distribution called the Exponentiated Exponential Burr XII or abbreviated as EE-BXII. We derive various statistical properties in addition to the parameter estimation, moments, and asymptotic confidence bounds. We estimate the precision of the maximum likelihood estimators via a simulation study. Furthermore, the utility of the proposed distribution is evaluated by using two lifetime data sets and the results are compared with other existing probability distributions. The results clarify that the proposed distribution provides a better fit to these data sets as compared to the existing probability distributions.

Exponentiated Odd Lomax Exponential distribution with application to COVID-19 death cases of Nepal.

Project description:This study suggested a new four-parameter Exponentiated Odd Lomax Exponential (EOLE) distribution by compounding an exponentiated odd function with Lomax distribution as a generator. The proposed model is unimodal and positively skewed whereas the hazard rate function is monotonically increasing and inverted bathtubs. Some important properties of the new distribution are derived such as quintile function and median; asymptotic properties and mode; moments; mean residual life, mean path time; mean deviation; order statistics; and Bonferroni & Lorenz curve. The value of the parameters is obtained from the maximum likelihood estimation, least-square estimation, and Cramér-Von-Mises methods. Here, a simulation study and two real data sets, "the number of deaths per day due to COVID-19 of the first wave in Nepal" and ''failure stresses (In Gpa) of single carbon fibers of lengths 50 mm", have been applied to validate the different theoretical findings. The finding of an order of COVID-19 deaths in 153 days in Nepal obey the proposed distribution, it has a significantly positive relationship between the predictive test positive rate and the predictive number of deaths per day. Therefore, the intended model is an alternative model for survival data and lifetime data analysis.

Half circular modified burr-III distribution, application with different estimation methods.

Project description:The data related to many medical, environmental and ecological variables are often measured in terms of angles wherein its range is defined in [0,π). This type of data is referred to as axial or half circular data. Modeling based on half circular data has not received its due share of attention in statistical literature. In this paper, we introduce a new half circular distribution based on inverse stereographic projection technique on modified Burr-III distribution, called the half circular modified Burr-III (hcMB-III) distribution. The basic properties of the proposed distribution are derived. It is common observation that while estimating the parameters of a model, one usually adopts maximum likelihood estimation method as the starting point. In this paper, we consider seven frequentist methods of estimation, besides using maximum likelihood method for estimating the parameters of the hcMB-III distribution. Monte Carlo simulations are performed for investigating the performances of the considered methods in terms of their biases and mean square errors using small, medium and large sample sizes. Finally, one data set related to posterior corneal curvature of the eyes of 23 patients, is analyzed to check potentiality of the newly proposed model.

A discrete analogue of odd Weibull-G family of distributions: properties, classical and Bayesian estimation with applications to count data.

Project description:In the statistical literature, several discrete distributions have been developed so far. However, in this progressive technological era, the data generated from different fields is getting complicated day by day, making it difficult to analyze this real data through the various discrete distributions available in the existing literature. In this context, we have proposed a new flexible family of discrete models named discrete odd Weibull-G (DOW-G) family. Its several impressive distributional characteristics are derived. A key feature of the proposed family is its failure rate function that can take a variety of shapes for distinct values of the unknown parameters, like decreasing, increasing, constant, J-, and bathtub-shaped. Furthermore, the presented family not only adequately captures the skewed and symmetric data sets, but it can also provide a better fit to equi-, over-, under-dispersed data. After producing the general class, two particular distributions of the DOW-G family are extensively studied. The parameters estimation of the proposed family, are explored by the method of maximum likelihood and Bayesian approach. A compact Monte Carlo simulation study is performed to assess the behavior of the estimation methods. Finally, we have explained the usefulness of the proposed family by using two different real data sets.

The generalized odd log-logistic-G regression with interval-censored survival data.

Project description:The article proposes a new regression based on the generalized odd log-logistic family for interval-censored data. The survival times are not observed for this type of data, and the event of interest occurs at some random interval. This family can be used in interval modeling since it generalizes some popular lifetime distributions in addition to its ability to present various forms of the risk function. The estimation of the parameters is addressed by the classical and Bayesian methods. We examine the behavior of the estimates for some sample sizes and censorship percentages. Selection criteria, likelihood ratio tests, residual analysis, and graphical techniques assess the goodness of fit of the fitted models. The usefulness of the proposed models is red shown by means of two real data sets.

The new Neyman type A generalized odd log-logistic-G-family with cure fraction.

Project description:The work proposes a new family of survival models called the Odd log-logistic generalized Neyman type A long-term. We consider different activation schemes in which the number of factors M has the Neyman type A distribution and the time of occurrence of an event follows the odd log-logistic generalized family. The parameters are estimated by the classical and Bayesian methods. We investigate the mean estimates, biases, and root mean square errors in different activation schemes using Monte Carlo simulations. The residual analysis via the frequentist approach is used to verify the model assumptions. We illustrate the applicability of the proposed model for patients with gastric adenocarcinoma. The choice of the adenocarcinoma data is because the disease is responsible for most cases of stomach tumors. The estimated cured proportion of patients under chemoradiotherapy is higher compared to patients undergoing only surgery. The estimated hazard function for the chemoradiotherapy level tends to decrease when the time increases. More information about the data is addressed in the application section.
