Complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Butyriboletus hainanensis (Boletales, Basidiomycota).

ABSTRACT: Butyriboletus hainanensis, a macrofungus belonging to the Boletaceae family, is named after its collection location on Hainan Island, China. However, little is known about its mitochondrial genome and its phylogenetic relationship with other boletes. In this study, we utilized next-generation sequencing technology to sequence the mitochondrial genome of Bu. hainanensis. Our findings revealed that the mitochondrial genome of this species is presumably a circular DNA molecule spanning 36,592 bp. It consists of 15 protein-coding genes, 27 transfer RNA genes, and two ribosomal RNA genes. The base composition of the mitochondrial genome is as follows: A (36.64%), C (12.22%), G (11.73%), and T (39.41%), with a GC content of 23.95%. Additionally, a phylogenetic tree was constructed based on 22 mitochondrial genomes, which provided valuable insights into the phylogenetic relationships of Bu. hainanensis with other boletes for the first time.

Project description:Aureoboletus raphanaceus is a member of boletoid mushroom, which is named after its distinctive radish smell. The mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic relationships with other boletes need to be investigated to gain a comprehensive understanding of it. In this study, we sequenced the mitochondrial genome of A. raphanaceus using next-generation sequencing technology and found that its mitochondrial genome is a circular DNA molecule measuring 42,157 bp. It consists of 15 core protein-coding genes, 27 transfer RNA genes, and two ribosomal RNA genes. The mitochondrial genome had a base composition of A (39.89%), C (11.06%), G (11.67%), and T (37.38%), with a GC content of 22.73%. A phylogenetic tree based on 22 mitochondrial genomes was constructed, which provided the first insights into the phylogenetic relationships of this species with related boletes.

Complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Lanmaoa macrocarpa (Boletales, Basidiomycota).

Project description:Lanmaoa macrocarpa is a boletoid mushroom from the family Boletaceae and was named after its relatively larger basidiocarp and bluish color change when bruised. At present, its mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic relationships with other boletes remain unexplored. In this study, we sequenced the mitochondrial genome of L. macrocarpa using next-generation sequencing technology and found that its mitochondrial genome, a circular DNA molecule of 38,139 bp, comprised 15 core protein-coding genes, 26 transfer RNA genes and two ribosomal RNA genes. The mitochondrial genome had a base composition of A (37.05%), C (12.08%), G (11.42%) and T (39.45%) with a GC content of 23.50%. A phylogenetic tree based on 20 mitochondrial genomes was constructed, which revealed the phylogenetic relationships of this species with related boletes for the first time.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of Lactarius trivialis (Russulalles, Basidiomycota).

Project description:Lactarius trivialis is a very common species and widely distributes in north temperate. In this study, a complete mitogenome of L. trivialis was assembled and annotated. The whole mitogenome of L. trivialis was a circular molecule with 42,366 bp in length, encoding 44 genes as follows: 19 coding genes, two rRNAs, and 23 tRNAs. The contents of four bases in mtDNA were A (39.65%), T (38.82%), C (11.30%), and G (21.53%), respectively. Phylogenetic analysis recovered that it is nested with other Lactarius spp. in the order Russulalles.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Vanmanenia hainanensis (Cypriniformes: Gastromyzontidae).

Project description:Vanmanenia hainanensis Chen & Zheng 1980 is endemic to Hainan Island, China. The complete mitogenome of the species was sequenced in this study. It was 16,555 bp in length, containing 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 1 control region. The base composition was 29.5% A, 25.4% T, 16.7% G, and 28.4% C. All genes were encoded on the H-strand except for ND6 and 8 tRNA genes, located on the l-strand. Phylogenetic analysis based on 13 protein-coding genes indicated that the genus Vanmanenia did not form monophyly and it had the closest relationship with Formosania. This study aimed at providing useful genetic information for future studies on taxonomy, phylogeny, and evolution of Vanmanenia species.

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Keteleeria hainanensis (Pinaceae).

Project description:Keteleeria hainanensis is an endemic species with extremely narrow distribution. In this study, the complete genome of K._hainanensis was sequenced and analyzed. The genome size is 117,366 bp and it contains two short inverted repeat regions of 1,272 bp, which was separated by a large single-copy (LSC) region of 74,819 bp and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 40,003 bp. The GC content of this genome was 38.57%. The chloroplast genome contained 103 unique genes, including 74 protein-coding gene, 25 tRNA genes, and 4 rRNA gene. Phylogenetic analysis base on 11 chloroplast genomes indicated that K. hainanensis is closely related to K. davidiana.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the medicinal fungus Inonotus obliquus (Hymenochaetaceae, Basidiomycota).

Project description:Inonotus obliquus is a medicinal fungus in the family Hymenochaetaceae and commonly known as chaga. The sclerotium of this fungus has been used as a traditional medicine for long time. In this study, we present the mitochondrial genome sequence of I. obliquus. The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is 119,110 base pairs in length and contained genes for 58 Open reading frames, 2 ribosomal RNAs, and 30 transfer RNAs. Consequently performed phylogenetic analysis indicates that this fungus is closely related to Sanghuangporus sanghuang which belongs to the same family Hymenochaetaceae. We first reported about the complete mitochondrial genome of fungi belonging to the genus Inonotus.

Project description:Sanghuang is a polypore mushroom, which has been widely used in oriental medicine. Since recent molecular phylogenetic studies elucidated its species delimitation, Sanghaungporus sanghuang became the official name of this fungus. In this study, the complete sequence of the mitochondrial DNA of S. sanghuang was determined. The whole genome was 112,060 bp containing 14 proteins, 2 ribosomal RNA subunits, and 45 transfer RNAs. The overall GC content of the genome was 23.21%. A neighbour-joining tree based on atp6 sequence data showed its close relationship with the species of Ganoderma and Trametes.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Porodaedalea mongolica (Hymenochaetaceae, Basidiomycota).

Project description:Most Porodaedalea species are important phytopathogenic and medicinal fungi. Recently, several Porodaedalea species including P. mongolica were newly described. In the present study, the complete sequence of mitochondrial genome of P. mongolica was determined, with a size of 114,176 bp and a GC content of 28.98%, containing two ribosomal RNA subunit, 26 transfer RNA, and 54 protein-coding genes (PCGs). The comparative analyses indicated that the amino acids of 14 core PCGs were highly conserved in Porodaedalea. Phylogenetic analysis of Porodaedalea was performed based on mitogenomic data and provided a new insight to the phylogeny of the Porodaedalea. The complete mitogenome sequence provides important data for further study of Porodaedalea.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of the medicinal mushroom Hericium coralloides (Hericiaceae, Basidiomycota) was sequenced. This mitochondrial genome is 72,961 bp in length and consisted of 14 protein-coding genes, 21 hypothetical open reading frames, 2 ribosomal RNA subunits and 27 transfer RNAs. The overall nucleotide composition of is 41.33% A, 40.71% T, 9.06% C and 8.90% G, with GC content of 17.96%. A phylogenetic tree with the complete mitochondrial genome sequences of Hericium coralloides together with 9 other affinis mushrooms was constructed. The newly achieved mitochondrial genome sequence seem to be useful for addressing taxonomic issues and studying related evolution events, which would contribute to enrich the fungal mitochondrial genome resource and promote the biological research.

Project description:Phyllagathi hainanensis (Merr. et Chun) C. Chen is a small shrubs of Melastomataceae. It is only distributed in Hainan provinces of China. The complete chloroplast genome of P. hainanensis is reported in this study. The complete chloroplast genome of P. hainanensis is 156,123 bp in length with a typical quadripartite structure, consisting of a large single-copy region (LSC, 85,497 bp), a single-copy region (SSC, 17,076 bp), and a pair of inverted repeats (IRs, 26,775 bp). There are 129 genes annotated, including 37 transfer RNA genes, 8 ribosomal RNA genes, and 84 proteincoding genes. The complete plastome sequence of P. hainanensis will provide a useful resource for phylogenetic studies in Melastomataceae.
