ABSTRACT: We report the synthesis of all-cis fluorinated cyclohexanes bearing three hydroxy, ether or ester functionalities in the non-fluorinated positions. These tripodal molecules have a high dipole moment of up to 6.3 debye and were successfully used to bind anions and form gels.

Project description:The synthesis of four new 1,3,5-triaryl-1,3,5-triazinane-2,4,6-trithione derivatives (thioisocyanurates) and two new partially thionated analogues from the corresponding 1,3,5-triaryl-1,3,5-triazinane-2,4,6-triones (isocyanurates) is reported, together with their spectroscopic properties. DFT calculations and comparison with the corresponding isocyanurates evidence the impact of the oxygen-for-sulfur replacement on the electronic structure and linear optical properties of these heterocycles. A bathochromic shift of the absorption bands and more efficient quenching of the fluorescence was observed.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(6)H(6)O(3), has been redetermined at low temperature [room-temperature structure: Maartmann-Moe (1965 ▶). Acta Cryst. 19, 155-157]. The mol-ecule is planar with approximate D(3h) point symmetry, yet it crystallizes in the chiral ortho-rhom-bic space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) with a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonding network containing infinite O-H⋯O-H⋯O-H chains.

Synthesis and structure of 2,4,6-tri-cyclo-butyl-1,3,5-trioxane.

Project description:The synthesis and structure of 2,4,6,-tri-cyclo-butyl-1,3,5-trioxane, C15H24O3 1, is described. It was formed in 39% yield during the work-up of the Swern oxidation of cyclo-butyl-methanol and may serve as a stable precursor of the cyclo-butane carbaldehyde. The mol-ecule of 1 occupies a special position (3.m) located at the center of its 1,3,5-trioxane ring. The latter is in a chair conformation, with the symmetry-independent O and C atoms deviating by 0.651 (4) Å from the least-squares plane of the other atoms of the trioxane ring. All three cyclo-butane substituents, which have a butterfly conformation with an angle between the two planes of 25.7 (3)°, are in the cis conformation relative to the 1,3,5-trioxane ring. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions between the 1,3,5-trioxane rings consolidate the crystal structure, forming stacks along the c-axis direction. The crystal studied was refined a as a racemic twin.

Triethyl-ammonium 2,4,6-trisulfanylidene-1,3,5-triazinan-1-ide.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(6)H(16)N(+)·C(3)H(2)N(3)S(3) (-), contains two independent ion pairs. The 2,4,6-trithioxo-1,3,5-triazinan-1-ide anion features an almost planar six-membered ring (r.m.s. deviations = 0.009 and 0.018?Å) having exocyclic double-bond S atoms. The anions inter-act by N-H?S hydrogen bonds to generate a chain running along [110]. The triethyl-ammonium cations are hydrogen bonded to the anions with the ammonium H atom forming a hydrogen bond to the negatively-charged N atom of the anion. In the crystal structure, both triethyl-ammonium cations are disordered over two orientations with equal occupancies.

Project description:The complete mol-ecule of the title compound, C24H21N3O6, is generated by the application of threefold rotation symmetry about an axis perpendicular to the central ring. The mol-ecule exhibits a propeller-like shape. The dihedral angle between each benzene ring and the heterocyclic ring is 74.0 (1)°. The mol-ecules pack with no specific inter-molecular inter-actions between them. The SQUEEZE procedure in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155] was used to model disordered solvent mol-ecules, presumed to be acetone; the calculated unit-cell data do not take into account the presence of these.

Synthesis and PI 3-Kinase Inhibition Activity of Some Novel 2,4,6-Trisubstituted 1,3,5-Triazines.

Project description:A number of new trisubstituted triazine phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitors were prepared via a three-step procedure utilizing sequential nucleophilic aromatic substitution and cross-coupling reactions. All were screened as PI3K inhibitors relative to the well-characterized PI3K inhibitor, ZSTK474. The most active inhibitors prepared here were 2⁻4 times more potent than ZSTK474. A leucine linker was attached to the most active inhibitor since it would remain on any peptide-containing prodrug after cleavage by a prostate-specific antigen, and it did not prevent inhibition of protein kinase B (Akt) phosphorylation, and hence, the inhibition of PI3K by the modified inhibitor.

Redetermination of 2,4,6-tricyclo-hexyl-1,3,5-trioxane.

Project description:The title compound, C(21)H(36)O(3), was obtained by treatment of cyclo-hexa-necarbaldehyde with catalytic toluene-4-sulfonic acid monohydrate. This redetermination results in a crystal structure with significantly higher precision than the original determination [Diana & Ganis (1963 ▶). Atti Accad. Naz. Lincei, 35, 80-88]. The asymmetric unit contains one sixth of the mol-ecule, the formula unit being generated by crystallographic 3m symmetry. In the mol-ecule, the trioxane and cyclo-hexane rings are in chair conformations. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds along the [001] direction.

Project description:The single-crystal structure of the title compound features a moderately strong halogen bond between one of the three crystallographically distinct iodine atoms and the nitrogen atom. The other two chemically identical iodine atoms do not engage in halogen bonding. The single-crystal structure of the title compound, C4H10N2·2C6F3I3, features a moderately strong halogen bond between one of the three crystallographically distinct iodine atoms and the nitrogen atom. The iodine–nitrogen distance is 2.820 (3) Å, corresponding to 80% of the sum of their van der Waals radii. The C—I⋯N halogen bond angle is 178.0 (1)°, consistent with the linear interaction of nitrogen via a σ-hole opposite the carbon–iodine covalent bond. The other two iodine atoms do not engage in halogen bonding. Some weak C—H⋯F and —H⋯I interactions are also observed. The complete piperazine molecule is generated by symmetry.

Project description:In the title compound, C(24)H(39)N(3)O(3), the H atoms of the methyl groups are disordered over two positions, with site-occupation factors fixed at 0.5. The three morpholino groups are arranged in an asymmetrical fashion with respect to the anchoring mesitylene ring and adopt chair conformations. Inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a one-dimensional chain structure.

Project description:Two virtually superimposable mol-ecules comprise the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(27)H(27)N(3). The range of dihedral angles between the central 1,3,5-triazine ring and the attached benzene rings is 20.88?(14)-31.36?(14)°, and the shape of each mol-ecule is of a flattened bowl. The crystal packing features weak C-H?? bonds and ?-? inter-actions between triazine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid separations = 3.7696?(17) and 3.7800?(18)?Å] that result in the formation of supra-molecular layers in the ac plane. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with a minor twin component of 20.7?(3)%.
