Project description:BackgroundVappolotes Zhao & Li, 2019 is one of the troglophilous genera, with five known species. The previous description of V.tianjiayu from China was based solely on female specimens collected from caves in the Wuling Mountains in southern China without any males.New informationThe present study, deals with the first record of the male of V.tianjiayu from its type locality: Guluo Cave. The validation of species is based on the morphological characteristics of both male and female.
Project description:Nine new Pireneitega species collected from Xinjiang, China are described as new to science: Pireneitega burqinensis sp. n. (♂♀), Pireneitega fuyunensis sp. n. (♂♀), Pireneitega gongliuensis sp. n. (♂♀), Pireneitega huochengensis sp. n. (♂♀), Pireneitega lini sp. n. (♀), Pireneitega liui sp. n. (♂♀), Pireneitega wensuensis sp. n. (♂), Pireneitega wui sp. n. (♂) and Pireneitega yaoi sp. n. (♀). DNA barcodes were obtained for all these species for future use.
Project description:Two new Notiocoelotes species, Notiocoelotes maoganensis sp. n. (♂♀) and Notiocoelotes qiongzhongensis sp. n. (♂♀) are described from Hainan Island, China. In addition, the female of Notiocoelotes membranaceus Liu & Li, 2010 is described for the first time. DNA barcodes of three species treated in this paper were obtained for future use.
Project description:One new genus of the spider subfamily Coelotinae, Flexicoelotes gen. n., with five new species is described from southern China: Flexicoelotes huyunensis sp. n. (female), Flexicoelotes jiaohanyanensis sp. n. (male and female), Flexicoelotes jinlongyanensis sp. n. (male and female), Flexicoelotes pingzhaiensis sp. n. (female), Flexicoelotes xingwangensis sp. n. (male and female).
Project description:A new genus of the subfamily Coelotinae F.O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1893, Guilotes Z. Zhao & S. Li, gen. n. from China is described, as well as four new species: G.ludiensis Z. Zhao & S. Li, sp. n. (♂♀, type species), G.qingshitanensis Z. Zhao & S. Li, sp. n. (♂♀), G.xingpingensis Z. Zhao & S. Li, sp. n. (♂♀) and G.yandongensis Z. Zhao & S. Li, sp. n. (♀). The DNA barcodes of all species are documented for future use.
Project description:A new genus of the subfamily Coelotinae F. O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1893, Yunguiriusgen. nov. is described, comprising two new species and three species previously described in Draconarius Ovtchinnikov, 1999, all from southwest China: Y.duogesp. nov. (♀), Y.xiangdingsp. nov. (♀), Y.ornatus (Wang, Yin, Peng & Xie, 1990) comb. nov. (♂♀) (the type species of Yunguiriusgen. nov.), Y.subterebratus (Zhang, Zhu & Wang, 2017) comb. nov. (♀), and Y.terebratus (Peng & Wang, 1997) comb. nov. (♂♀). Molecular analyses support Yunguiriusgen. nov. as a monophyletic group, with the Sinodraconarius clade as its sister group: Yunguiriusgen. nov. + (Hengconarius + (Nuconarius + Sinodraconarius)).
Project description:A new genus of the subfamily Coelotinae F.O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1893, Sinodraconariusgen. n., with four new species, S. cawarongensissp. n. (♂♀), S. muruoensissp. n. (♂♀), S. sangjiuensissp. n. (♂♀, type species), S. yuisp. n. (♂♀) and S. patellabifidus (Wang, 2003) comb. n., ex. Draconarius Ovtchinnikov, 1999 is described. The genus is restricted to Southwest China. Sinodraconariusgen. n. is most similar to Draconarius but can be distinguished by the shape of the copulatory organs. The DNA barcodes of all species were documented for future use.
Project description:One new genus of the spider subfamily Coelotinae, Papiliocoelotes gen. n., with five new species is described for both sexes: Papiliocoelotes guanyinensis sp. n., Papiliocoelotes guitangensis sp. n., Papiliocoelotes jiepingensis sp. n., Papiliocoelotes meiyuensis sp. n., Papiliocoelotes yezhouensis sp. n. All new species were collected from caves in the Wuling Mountains of Hubei and Hunan Provinces, China. DNA barcodes were obtained for future use.
Project description:Baiyueriusgen. nov., a new genus of the subfamily Coelotinae F. O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1893 is described, including five new species: B.daxisp. nov. (♀), B.pindongsp. nov. (♂), B.tamdaosp. nov. (♀), B.zhupingsp. nov. (♂) and B.zuojiangsp. nov. (♂♀), from southern China and northern Vietnam. Our molecular phylogenetic analyses support Baiyuerius gen. nov. as monophyletic and as a sister group of the newly established genus Yunguirius Li, Zhao & Li, 2023.
