<i>Toxoplasma gondii</i> is a zoonotic parasite able of infecting all warm-blooded animals. Toxoplasmosis is one of the major foodborne diseases globally. The consumption of wild boar (<i>Sus scrofa</i>) meat from recreational hunting has been linked to outbreaks of human toxoplasmosis.
