Project description:Two new species of the spider genus Mallinella Strand, 1906 are reported from China: Mallinella sphaerica sp. n. (male, female) from Tianmu Mountain, Zhejiang Province and Mallinella pluma sp. n. (male) from Daming Mountain, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Project description:Abstract Three new zodariid spiders from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden in Yunnan, China are described. A new species of the genus Euryeidon Dankittipakul & Jocqué, 2004, E.diansp. nov. (♂♀), and two new species of the genus Mallinella Strand, 1906, M.bannasp. nov. (♂) and M.menglasp. nov. (♂), are described. Euryeidon is reported for the first time in China.
Project description:Two species assigned to Massuria Thorell, 1887 are reviewed. The female of Massuriabandian Tang & Li, 2010 is described for the first time from Jianfengling National Natural Reserve, Hainan Province, China. The species Diaeasimplex Xu, Han & Li, 2008 is described as a synonym of Massuriabellula Xu, Han & Li, 2008 based on female and male specimens from Guangdong Province, China. Massuriaminsp. nov. described as a new species (female, Fujian Province, China). Detailed illustrations and a distribution map are provided for these three species of Massuria.
Project description:Three new species of the genus Zodarion Walckenaer, 1826, from China, are described as Zodarionapertum sp. n. (♂♀, from Xinjiang), Z.planum sp. n. (♂, from Shaanxi), and Z.ovatum sp. n. (♂♀, from Yunnan).
Project description:Four new species of the genus Otacilia Thorell, 1897 are reported from Hunan Province, China: Otacilia hippocampasp. n., Otacilia yangmingensissp. n., Otacilia curvatasp. n., and Otacilia submicrostomasp. n. All new species are described based on both sexes. In addition, the 55 known Otacilia species are divided into four species groups.
Project description:Herein four species of the trapdoor spider genus Conothele Thorell, 1878 collected from China are described as new to science based on the female genital morphology: C.baisha sp. n. (Hainan Province), C.baoting sp. n. (Hainan Province), C.linzhi sp. n. (Tibet), and C.jinggangshan sp. n. (Jiangxi Province). For two Hainan species, C.baisha sp. n. and C.baoting sp. n., between which it is difficult to distinguish solely based on female genital morphology, additional diagnoses derived from species-specific nucleotide substitution information and genetic distances using the mitochondrial gene, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I are provided.
Project description:Three new species of the genus Asceua Thorell, 1887, from the natural forests of Malaysia, are described as Asceuabifurca sp. n. (♂♀), A.curva sp. n. (♂), and A.trimaculata sp. n. (♀). The genus Asceua is reported from Malaysia for the first time.
Project description:One new species Belisanadenticulata sp. n. (♂) is reported from northern Vietnam based on material collected by fogging the forest canopy. This species resembles Belisanascharffi Huber, 2005, but can be distinguished by relatively long distance between proximal parts of proximo-lateral apophysis and distal apophysis on male chelicerae, by presence of a nearly saddle-shaped prolateral sclerite on procursus, and by different shape of retrolateral membranous flap on procursus. Type specimens are deposited in the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in Hanoi.
Project description:BackgroundOnly one zodariid species, Storenomorphalushanensis Yu & Chen, 2009 was found from Jiangxi Province. No other Mallinella species have been recorded from this Province.New informationA new species, Mallinellashahu sp. n. is described from Jiangxi Province, China. Morphological illustrations, living photos and distribution map are given.
Project description:Here for the first time the presence of the trapdoor spider genus Conothele Thorell, 1878 (Araneae: Ctenizidae) is reported from mainland China and Laos. Four Conothele species collected from the regions are described as new to science, based on the female genital morphology: Conothele baiyunensis Xu, Xu & Liu, sp. n. (Guangdong Province), Conothele daxinensis Xu, Xu & Li, sp. n. (Guangxi Province), Conothele sidiechongensis Xu, Xu & Liu, sp. n. (Yunnan Province, China and Vietnam), Conothele yundingensis Xu, Xu & Li, sp. n. (Yunnan Province).
