A Dual Role of Mesenchymal Stem Cell Derived Small Extracellular Vesicles on TRPC6 Protein and Mitochondria to Promote Diabetic Wound Healing.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Diabetic wounds exhibit delayed and incomplete healing, usually due to vascular and nerve damage. Dysregulation of cellular Ca2+ homeostasis has recently been shown to be closely related to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus. However, the involvement of this dysregulation in diabetic wound complications remains unknown. In this study, we found calcium dysregulation in patients with diabetic ulcers via tissue protein profiling. High glucose and glucometabolic toxicant stimulation considerably impaired the function of TRPC6, a pore subunit of transient receptor potential channels mediating Ca2+ influx, and mitochondria, which regulate calcium cycling and metabolism. Furthermore, we found that mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived small extracellular vesicles
