Project description:Innovation is key to gaining a sustainable edge in an increasingly competitive global manufacturing landscape. For Bangladesh's manufacturing sector to survive and thrive in today's cutthroat business environment, adopting transformative technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) is not a luxury but a necessity. This article tackles the formidable task of identifying and comprehensively evaluating the impediments to IoT adoption in the Bangladeshi manufacturing industry. We delve deeply into the complex terrain of IoT adoption challenges by synthesizing expert insights and a meticulously selected body of contemporary literature. We employ a robust methodology combining the Delphi method with the fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process to systematically analyze and prioritize these challenges. Using this methodology, we leveraged the combined expertise of domain specialists and subsequently employed fuzzy logic techniques to address the inherent ambiguities and uncertainties within the data. Our findings highlight this clear path. They reveal that among the myriad barriers, "Lack of top management commitment to implementing new technology" (B10), "High initial implementation investment costs" (B9), and "Risks associated with switching to a new business model" (B7) loom most extensive, demanding immediate attention. These insights are not confined to academia but serve as a pragmatic guide for industrial managers. Armed with the knowledge gleaned from this study, managers can craft tailored strategies, set well-informed priorities, and embark on a transformational journey toward harnessing the vast potential of IoT in the Bangladeshi industrial sector. This article provides a comprehensive understanding of IoT adoption challenges and industry leaders with the tools necessary to navigate these challenges effectively. This strategic navigation, in turn, contributes significantly to enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of Bangladeshi manufacturing in the IoT era.

Project description:Many workers are exposed to electrical energy during the fulfillment of their tasks. It is necessary to identify the potential risk factors for electrical damages. The present study aimed to develop a novel Electrical Industry Safety Risk Index (EISRI) in the electricity power distribution industry based on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP). In this study several different safety risk assessment methods were analyzed. Then, common activities in the electricity distribution industry were classified into ten occupational groups. To identify the general structure of risk assessment and determine three main components, including personal, environmental, and organizational a three-stage Delphi study was conducted with the participation of 30 experts. The fuzzy analytic hierarchy process approach was used to weight the components and parameters in each job group. Finally, the results of the EISRI were compared with the failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) method. The most effective component in determining the risk level was the personal component (PC), with a 0.537 weighted average. Cronbach's alpha values for each of the personal, environmental, and organizational components and the entire model were 0.90, 0.85, 0.82, and 0.86, respectively, and model reliability was confirmed. The results obtained from the EISRI method were compared with the FMEA method, the results of both methods were very close to each other (p < 0.05). The results of this study revealed that the highest weighted average was related to the personal component due to the high impact of the human factors in carrying out activities in various occupations. The EISRI can be applied as a substitute for general risk assessment methods due to the suitability of this method with the nature of activities in this industry. The present technique can be a practical step toward developing suitable risk management algorithm.

Project description:BackgroundAs the recipients of home care services, patients have the most direct and profound experience of service quality. There is limited knowledge as to quality indicators for home care services from patients' perspective. This study aimed to identify quality indicators for home care services based on the Service Quality model and determine the weights of these indicators.MethodsA two-round Delphi survey and Analytic Hierarchy Process consultation were conducted to gather opinions from national experts on quality indicators for home care services developed on the basis of the Service Quality model. Consensus was defined as at least 80% agreement on the importance (important and very important) of indicators among experts. The Analytic Hierarchy Process was used to calculate the weight coefficients of the identified indicators.ResultsThe response rate was 95.0% and 97.4% in the first and second round, respectively. After two rounds, five first-level (tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy) and 23 second-level indicators were identified. The Kendall's W values were 0.54 and 0.40 for the first-level and second-level indicators (p < 0.001). The weight coefficients for the first-level and second-level indicators were 0.110-0.298 and 0.019-0.088, respectively.ConclusionQuality indicators for home care services were identified based on the Service Quality model. These indicators can be used to evaluate the service quality of home care from patients' perspective and facilitate to determine work priorities and improve the quality of home care.

Project description:During a medical surge, resource scarcity and other factors influence the performance of the healthcare systems. To enhance their performance, hospitals need to identify the critical indicators that affect their operations for better decision-making. This study aims to model a pertinent set of indicators for improving emergency departments' (ED) performance during a medical surge. The framework comprises a three-stage process to survey, evaluate, and rank such indicators in a systematic approach. The first stage consists of a survey based on the literature and interviews to extract quality indicators that impact the EDs' performance. The second stage consists of forming a panel of medical professionals to complete the survey questionnaire and applying our proposed consensus-based modified fuzzy Delphi method, which integrates text mining to address the fuzziness and obtain the sentiment scores in expert responses. The final stage ranks the indicators based on their stability and convergence. Here, twenty-nine potential indicators are extracted in the first stage, categorized into five healthcare performance factors, are reduced to twenty consentaneous indicators monitoring ED's efficacy. The Mann-Whitney test confirmed the stability of the group opinions (p < 0.05). The agreement percentage indicates that ED beds (77.8%), nurse staffing per patient seen (77.3%), and length of stay (75.0%) are among the most significant indicators affecting the ED's performance when responding to a surge. This research proposes a framework that helps hospital administrators determine essential indicators to monitor, manage, and improve the performance of EDs systematically during a surge event.

Project description:As the industrial structure changes, the severe shortage of high-quality technical and skilled talent in China is one of the most significant factors affecting the high-quality development of China's economy. Bridging the gap between cultivating talent from new undergraduate vocational universities and the demand for industrial talent is regarded as an efficient strategy to address the talent shortage. In addressing the gap, China is hindered by a lack of clarity regarding student development goals and effective assessment instruments. Thus, this study aimed to use the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to overcome the above challenges. Specifically, we used the FDM to establish a five-level undergraduate vocational education student development model with two 2nd-level indicators, three 3rd-level indicators, eight 4th-level indicators, and 33 5th-level indicators to clarify student development goals. Then, the AHP was applied to determine the indicator weights, and a student development assessment instrument was developed to help universities acquire student development data and improve the matching degree between talent supply and demand. This study could help undergraduate vocational universities cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talent quickly to meet the demand for China's new economic system and to promote industry independence and global competitiveness.

Project description:Addressing the sustainability issues arising from construction and demolition waste management (DWM) has gained little traction due to the lack of incentives, stringent regulations, and systematic guidance. This study aims to empower systematic decision-making concerning DWM alternative selection by developing a sustainability assessment framework by coupling a modified Delphi method with the multicriteria decision analysis technique. First, the study identifies a comprehensive inventory of indicators across three dimensions of sustainability in the context of DWM. Next, the study combines a modified Delphi method with the analytic hierarchy process to validate and prioritize the selected sustainability indicators. For the first time, insights regarding the DWM sustainability indicators from China's construction industry practitioners' perspectives are elicited using a mixed method comprising online semistructured interviews and two rounds of questionnaire surveys. Experts participating in the research are mostly based in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, where local governments exhaust all efforts in promoting carbon-neutral and sustainable development. The findings reveal that eight sustainability indicators were regarded as the determinants for the sustainability performance of DWM, with the global warming potential (32%), energy efficiency (16.1%) and land use (13.5%) receiving the highest preference scores (weights) based on the experts' judgment. Notably, the economic factors like the total cost (6.54%) appeared not highly prioritized by the local experts as typically did in the previous studies from developing countries.

Unfortunately, the highly secure design of software becomes worthless because the durability of security services is not as it should be.MethodsSecurity durability attributes have their own impact while integrating security with durability and assessment of security durability plays a crucial role during software development. Within this context, this paper estimates the security durability of the two alternatives versions of a locally developed software called version 1 and version 2. To assess the security durability, authors are using the hybrid fuzzy analytic hierarchy process decision analysis approach.ResultsThe impact of the security durability on other attributes has been evaluated quantitatively. The result obtained contains the assessment of security durability. The study posits conclusions which are based on this result and are useful for practitioners to assess and improve the security life span of software services.

Project description:We take a system point of view toward constructing any power or ranking hierarchy onto a society of human or animal players. The most common hierarchy is the linear ranking, which is habitually used in nearly all real-world problems. A stronger version of linear ranking via increasing and unvarying winning potentials, known as Bradley-Terry model, is particularly popular. Only recently non-linear ranking hierarchy is discussed and developed through recognition of dominance information contents beyond direct dyadic win-and-loss. We take this development further by rigorously arguing for the necessity of accommodating system's global pattern information contents, and then introducing a systemic testing on Bradley-Terry model. Our test statistic with an ensemble based empirical distribution favorably compares with the Deviance test equipped with a Chi-squared asymptotic approximation. Several simulated and real data sets are analyzed throughout our development.

Project description:BackgroundOne Health has become a global consensus to deal with complex health problems. However, the progress of One Health implementation in many countries is still relatively slow, and there is a lack of systematic evaluation index. The purpose of this study was to establish an indicator framework for global One Health Intrinsic Drivers index (GOH-IDI) to evaluate human, animal and environmental health development process globally.MethodFirst, 82 studies were deeply analyzed by a grounded theory (GT) method, including open coding, axial coding, and selective coding, to establish a three-level indicator framework, which was composed of three selective codes, 19 axial codes, and 79 open codes. Then, through semi-structured interviews with 28 health-related experts, the indicators were further integrated and simplified according to the inclusion criteria of the indicators. Finally, the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process combined with the entropy weight method was used to assign weights to the indicators, thus, forming the evaluation indicator framework of human, animal and environmental health development process.ResultsAn indicator framework for GOH-IDI was formed consisting of three selective codes, 15 axial codes and 61 open codes. There were six axial codes for "Human Health", of which "Infectious Diseases" had the highest weight (19.76%) and "Injuries and Violence" had the lowest weight (11.72%). There were four axial codes for "Animal Health", of which "Animal Epidemic Disease" had the highest weight (39.28%) and "Animal Nutritional Status" had the lowest weight (11.59%). Five axial codes were set under "Environmental Health", among which, "Air Quality and Climate Change" had the highest weight (22.63%) and "Hazardous Chemicals" had the lowest weight (17.82%).ConclusionsAn indicator framework for GOH-IDI was established in this study. The framework were universal, balanced, and scientific, which hopefully to be a tool for evaluation of the joint development of human, animal and environmental health in different regions globally.

Project description:In this work, a novel fuzzy decision making technique namely trapezoidal fuzzy Best-Worst method (fuzzy BWM) is developed which is based on Best-Worst method (BWM) and Trapezoidal fuzzy number. The real motive behind our work is to take a broad view of the existing fuzzy BWM based on triangular fuzzy number by trapezoidal fuzzy number. Also, we have presented a new hybrid MCDM technique called as Trapezoidal fuzzy Best Worst Analytic Hierarchy based on proposed trapezoidal fuzzy BWM and existing trapezoidal fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). BWM approach is employed in evaluating the PV of considering criteria and trapezoidal fuzzy AHP is used to assess the local priority vale (PV) of considering alternatives (or indicators) of a decision problem. Moreover it used to identify the most significant alternative which is responsible for performance efficiency of a hydro power plant under climatic scenario. From the result, it is undoubtedly found that hydraulic had is most responsible indicator. Further, the CR (consistency ratio) value which is determined by our proposed trapezoidal fuzzy BWM is less than that of existing BWM and fuzzy BWM techniques. Finally, we have validated our result by comparative study, scenario analysis and sensitivity analysis.
