ABSTRACT: Background
Angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) is secreted by hepatocytes and inhibits lipoprotein lipase and endothelial lipase activity. Previous studies reported the correlation between plasma ANGPTL3 levels and high-density lipoprotein (HDL). Recently ANGPTL3 was found to preferentially bind to HDL in healthy human circulation. Here, we examined whether ANGPTL3, as a component of HDL, modulates HDL function and affects HDL other components in human and mice with non-diabetes or type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods
HDL was isolated from the plasma of female non-diabetic subjects and type-2 diabetic mellitus (T2DM) patients. Immunoprecipitation, western blot, and ELISA assays were used to examine ANGPTL3 levels in HDL. Db/m and db/db mice, AAV virus mediated ANGPTL3 overexp
