Draft genome sequence of Limosilactobacillus fermentum isolated from subgingival biofilm.

ABSTRACT: Limosilactobacillus fermentum is generally considered beneficial for vaginal and digestive health. However, strains isolated from the oral cavity, especially from periodontitis lesions, have not been thoroughly studied. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of strain KHUD_007 isolated from the subgingival biofilm of a Korean patient with periodontitis.

Project description:Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Limosilactobacillus fermentum strain NKN-51, which was isolated from naturally processed yak cheese from the western Himalayas of India. The genome was assembled in 101 contigs with a total length of 1,879,705 bp and a GC content of 53.5%. Genome annotation predicted 1,730 protein-coding genes and 50 tRNA genes.

Complete genome sequence of Schaalia odontolytica isolated from subgingival biofilm.

Project description:ObjectiveRecent advancements in genome-based taxonomic classification propose the reclassification of certain Actinomyces species into new genera, including Schaalia. Schaalia odontolytica, the type species within this genus, is frequently found in the human oral cavity and has been associated with actinomycotic lesions. Currently, only two complete genomes of S. odontolytica strains have been reported. Recognizing the limited research on subspecies-level variation of S. odontolytica, we conducted genome sequencing of strain KHUD_008, isolated from a Korean periodontitis patient's subgingival biofilm. Additionally, we performed a comparative genome analysis using previously sequenced genomes of strain XH001 and strain FDAARGOS_732, both derived from the human oral cavity.Data descriptionPacific Biosciences Sequel II sequencing generated 15,904 and 76,557 raw sequencing sub-reads, which were integrated to assemble the de novo genome using the Microbial Genome Analysis pipeline in the Single-Molecule Real-Time Analysis. The genome assembly completeness, assessed by Benchmarking Universal Single-Copy Orthologs, reached 99.2%. The genome is 2,389,595 bp with a GC content of 66.37%, and contains 2,002 protein-coding genes, 9 rRNAs, and 48 tRNA. Comparative analysis with two previously sequenced strains revealed many strain-specific genes in KHUD_008, primarily related to envelope biogenesis and replication/recombination/repair processes.

Project description:Limosilactobacillus fermentum is a probiotic species; however, L. fermentum AGR1487 increases colon inflammation in germfree mice and decreases barrier integrity in Caco-2 cells. The AGR1487 genome was sequenced to explore these phenotypes. The genome is a single, circular, 1,939,032-bp chromosome with a G+C content of 52.17% and no plasmids.

Project description:Limosilactobacillus reuteri is a lactic acid bacterium with several probiotic properties. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of L. reuteri isolated from human breast milk. The average genome size was estimated as 2,087,202 bp, with a guanine-cytosine (GC) content of 51.6%. GC content is the percentage of nitrogenous bases in a DNA or RNA molecule that are either guanine (G) or cytosine (C). De Man, Rogosa and Sharpe, often abbreviated to MRS, is a selective culture medium designed to favor the luxuriant growth of lactobacilli for lab study.

Project description:Lactobacillus fermentum Lf2, an Argentine cheese isolate, can produce high concentrations of exopolysaccharides (EPS). These EPS were shown to improve the texture and rheology of yogurt, as well as to play a protective role in mice exposed to Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium. Three gene clusters potentially involved in EPS production were identified in different locations of the L. fermentum Lf2 genome.
